What's New

bulletAnd with the UK attacks comes an announcement by the NYPD that there will be random bag inspections on subways, buses, etc. And just so we don't offend they promise that profiling won't be employed. Why not ? If the last 999 out of 1,000 bombings have been by Muslims, it seems a no brainer to me who we should look out for and randomly check. I call that sensible policing.
bulletHere's a great article by Burt Prelutsky - Titled - A modest proposal for reasonable Muslims - http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45346
bulletSo, we have another series of bombings in the UK today. We have to deal with the facts, and take some serious action soon. If not, we all better prepare for this shit to happen here. (7/21/05)

bulletWe received bad news today. Jan Nymark has passed away suddenly. He was diagnosed with cancer less than 2 months ago, and has succumbed already. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family at this very difficult time. Jan was one of the good guys to work with and will be missed by many.

bulletTerrible news out of London with the terrorist attacks that took place this morning. 6 or more bomb blasts in their subway system and bus lines. I find it very curious that our Dept. Of  Homeland Security announces that there are no signs of any planned attacks in the US. I ask a simple question, was there a sign of the ACTUAL attacks that just took place in London ? So, how comforting is this message supposed to be to someone like me, who has to ride the subway each day ?
bulletThis in from DnC, Why People hate class reunions.
bulletSo, Rev Al gets all excited because some stupid black kids catch a beating while walking through a neighborhood that IS NOT THEIR OWN looking for cars to steal. This is a racist bias attack ?, we used to call it street justice. You come to my town and steal, see what happens if anyone catches you, be you white, black, or those new green people we've spotted. Well, where is Rev Al now that we have a black man, who went to the mall, for only one reason, to find someone who represents the 'white way of life' and to kill that person. He picks a wonderful mother of small children, mostly because she was blond and blue eyed, but ONLY because she was white. I suppose the Rev will say we don't understand this sicko, and we need to understand where is rage came from. ENOUGH of this shit. Throw the criminals in jail, don't let them out, and start having more caring and understanding for those of us who actually work for a living, want to live quietly with everyone else, and are generally good citizens.
bulletHave you heard about the most recent Muslim hate crime ? Someone left a bag on the steps of an area Mosque. The bag contained a Quran with several burnt pages, and other Islamic items. Muslims, and the America hating media declared HATE CRIME, after all, books don't burn themselves. These people even had the BALLS to suggest that EVERYONE in America ought to be required to read the Quran. Yeah, whatever. It turns out that a fellow religious Muslim student left the items at the Mosque, because they were damaged in a home fire, and he wanted to ensure they were disposed of properly. Seems there are no instructions on how to dispose of a Quran. I find the initial response appalling, and the subsequent NO ATTENTION after it was determined there was no HATE CRIME to continue to stoke flames with even more problematic.
bulletHave you received one of those email jokes that starts out with PLEASE DO THIS, IT IS HYSTERICAL. I have a few times so far, and thought I would share this bit of info with you all., So BEWARE, and don't forward this crap to your friends, it would be better to forward to your enemies. (7/7/05)

First things first. You should be aware that forwarding this email to eight, eighty, or even eight hundred people will not cause your computer to reveal the punch line of the joke, no matter how many times you press ALT-8. So don't even try.

Do you want to know the punchline of the joke? Fine. Here it is: "And the old lady said, 'NOW can I buy some toilet paper?"

See? You really didn't want to know, did you?

Why did someone start this joke circulating around the internet, anyway? I suspect the answer is, in part, that it becomes a great way of harvesting email addresses. When I received this email, there were fifty-three email addresses embedded in the message. They were the email addresses of the person who sent it to me, the other people she sent it to, as well as a bunch of people who had received it in the past.

Sooner or later, some spammer will get a copy of this, and it will contain my email address, and I'll start getting even more spam than I already do!

A Helpful Tip

Never pass on forwarded emails like this, because it's a sure way for your email address and your friends' email addresses to end up in the hands of an email harvester who wants nothing better than to spam you!

bulletThis in from TR.

Jeff walks into a bar and sees his friend Paul slumped over the bar. He walks over and asks Paul what's wrong. "Well," replies Paul, "You know that beautiful girl at work that I wanted to ask out, but I got an erection every time I saw her?" "Yes," replies Jeff with a laugh. "Well," says Paul, straightening up, "I finally worked up the courage to ask her out, and she agreed." "That's great!" says Jeff, "When are you going out?" "I went to meet her this evening," continues Paul, "but I was worried I'd get an erection again. So I got some duct tape and taped "it" to my leg, so if I did, it wouldn't show". "Sensible" says Jeff. "So I get to her door," says Paul, "and I rang her doorbell. She answered it in the sheerest, sexiest, dress you ever saw." "And what happened then?" "I kicked her in the face."

Corporate Lesson 1:

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor.

Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.

"Great!" the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"(5/27/05)

bulletI read a letter from a reader to the NY Post that stated that when we rebuild the Twin Towers as Trump suggests, and IF no one wants to occupy the top floors, we can relocate the entire UN to the top 20 floors. I think that's a wonderful idea, and would show the entire world's support for Freedom.
bulletI don't know. I recall previous NY Post front pages that contained amongst other things, a burnt out, blown up commuter bus from Israel, images of our dead American citizens, their burnt body parts hanging from a bridge in Iraq, Army soldier carrying dead babies. Those images made me sick. The image of Saddam in his skivvies made me laugh. And we laugh at the animal who was responsible for those other images, as well as many more sick images we have yet to uncover. So let's not be so worried about hurting Saddams honor, he has none. Remember what happened on 9/11. WE MUST NEVER FORGET, and WE MUST REBUILD THE TOWERS

bulletSo, despite the fact that DAYS have passed since Newsweek RETRACTED their story about flushing the Koran down a toilet,, a proposed leader in Iraq had this to tell his followers -
bulletShiite cleric Moqtada Sadr urged Muslims across Iraq to paint US and Israeli flags at mosque entrances for worshippers to walk on in protest at the alleged desecration of the Koran at the US detention camp in Guantanamo Did't they get the NEWS reports about the RETRACTION as fast as they got the wrong information that sparked the riots ? Or are they simply LOOKING FOR ANY REASON to protest against America ?
bulletPLEASE read this column by Nicole Gelinas from the 5/19/05 NY Post. It also supports rebuilding the Twin Towers. It's a very smart article.

bulletI don't know about you, but I'm still waiting for the Muslims who rioted and killed 17 of their own over the now FALSE report by Newsweek of Koran flushing to APOLOGIZE to AMERICA. How long do you figure I'm gonna have to wait. I also find it curious that one sentence in some off-beat magazine article was able to generate such a QUICK response to riot. What were they all on their riot buses, all ready to go ? http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44333
bulletI also find it interesting that when it was reported that the Palestinian terrorists who took over the Bethlehem Church of the Nativity years ago used pages of the Bible as toilet paper, the world didn't seem to make such a big deal over it. bulletTR sent in this bit of supposed historical information. I report, you decide.

All you non-Catholics who have been wondering about the new Pope: This small item should give you some insight:

As I understand it, Ratzinger was not the Cardinals first choice. That was, interestingly, Cardinal Hans Grapje.

Grapje was raised in a Catholic school in The Hague and, as a young man, aspired to become a priest, but was drafted into the Army during WWII and spent two years co-piloting B17s until his aircraft was shot down in 1943 and he lost his left arm. Captain Grapje spent the rest of the war as a chaplain, giving spiritual aid to soldiers, both Allied and enemy.

After the war, he became a priest, serving as a missionary in Africa, piloting his own plane (in spite of his handicap) to villages across the continent. In 1997, Father Grapje was serving in Zimbabwe when an explosion in a silver mine caused a cave-in. Archbishop Grapje went down into the mine to administer last rights to those too severely injured to move. Another shaft collapsed, and he was buried for three days, suffering multiple injuries, including the loss of his right eye. The high silver content in the mine's air gave him purpura, a life-long condition characterized by purplish skin blotches.

Although Cardinal Grapje devoted his life to the service of God as a scholar, mentor, and holy man, church leaders felt that he should never ascend to the Papacy.

They felt that the Church would never accept a one-eyed, one-armed, flying purple Papal leader.

bulletThis also in from TR, it's a good one.

Redneck vacation

Billy Bob and Luther were talking one afternoon when Billy Bob tells Luther, "Ya know, I reckon I'm 'bout ready for a vacation.

Only this year I'm gonna do it a little different."

The last few years, I took your advice about where to go.

Three years ago you said to go to Hawaii. I went to Hawaii and Earlene got pregnant."

"Then two years ago, you told me to go to the Bahamas, and Earlene got pregnant again."

"Last year you suggested Tahiti and darned if Earlene didn't get pregnant again."

Luther asks Billy Bob, "So, what you gonna do this year that's different?

Billy Bob says, . ......"This year I'm taking Earlene with me."

bulletSo, Michael Jackson's defense is now becoming that he is innocent of his charges, becasue others were commiting crimes against him ??? (5/13/05)
bulletNow we have Donald Trump echoing comments I have been making for some time now. We should REBUILD the Twin Towers. I can list a variety of reasons, but basically we are a nation that rebuilds things that get destroyed by others. We don't replace. Rebuilding is more powerful and effective than replacing can ever be. Rebuilding means WE WIN, replacing means THEY WIN. Which side you wanna be on ?

bulletI've had it with the NY Post. A few weeks ago they added to the confusion over the NY Daily News Game problem that resulted in more winners than the game intended, by disparaging the paper, and it's editors, and management. Thus contributing to the ignorant mindset that people may have actually won that contest and deserved to receive the erroneous cash awards. And then we have the story of the 3 year old who sneaks out of his home, catches the bus, gets off the stop for the movie theater, gets past 2 or 3 layers of crack security there and starts to watch the movie Robots. On this one, they REWARDED this child by treating him and his family to the movie, with all the special treatment of a local hero.

Instead of the Post EDUCATING its readership, and eventualy all New Yorkers, it chose to contribute to the current philosophy of appeasing those who behave poorly. What the Post should be doing is reminding everyone about the 'spirit' of the game the Daily News was running. If anyone with a grade school education would have read the RULES, they would have been informed that the game is supposed to have 1 winner in each category. With quality in American industry being what it is, RULES were established that PROTECTED the NYDN against MISTAKES being made that would have resulted in more winners than the game INTENDED. The Post was in a great position to do the right thing, and remind people that life has rules and limits, and this was an honest mistake, that should have been downplayed by the media, instead of contributing to the confusion, and allowing these weak-minded losers to believe they may actually be entitled to something.

With the 'rambunctious' little toddler, instead of REWARDING his bad behavior, they should be taking the time to REMIND the young people that they are supposed to follow the guidance of their parents, should not be venturing out alone. What do you suppose this kid and others like him may be thinking now instead ? That if they do something stupid they might get their way, their face in the paper, and on the nightly news reports ? Does this kid THINK that what he did was right or wrong ? This is a BAD TREND happening, and we ought to recognize it and reverse course ASAP. (5/1/05)

Admitted terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui told a hushed courtroom last week that he would "fight every inch against the death penalty." But in a private meeting with the judge two days earlier, he seemed resigned to the strong possibility that he would be put to death.

This from the guy that was going to fly a plane into the White House ??? I don't get it, I would have figured you wanted to die as soon as possible, since you got 72 virgins and a river of wine to get to.... Either way, ROT IN HELL YOU ASSHOLE

bulletI just found out that we lost a dear colleague from the Republic National Bank days last week. Blair Mazin was one of the Financial Accountants for us. He and his wife were both hard of hearing. It seems they were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning by their car, which was left running in their garage. Blair was a good man and was always concerned for others. We used to conduct annual data center tours for young students from the League for the Hard of Hearing. Can you picture a sign interpretor keeping up with me? He will be missed by many. I'm sorry I have no other information at this time. Here are a couple of articles -

bulletDnC finally sent in a funny dumb blonde joke. You will all enjoy this one.

A blonde, wanting to earn some extra money, decided to hire herself out as a "handy-woman" and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house, and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do.

"Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch," he said, "How much will you charge me?"
The blonde quickly responded, "How about $50?"

The man agreed and told her that the paint and everything she would need were in the garage.
The man's wife, hearing the conversation! , said to her husband, "Does she realize that our porch goes all the way around the house?"

He responded, "That's a bit cynical, isn't it?"
The wife replied, "You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those 'dumb blonde' jokes we've e been getting by e-mail lately."

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.
"You're finished already?" the husband asked.

"Yes," the blonde replied," and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats."

Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50 and handed it to her.

"And by the way," the blonde added,
"it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus."

bulletI am a simple kind of man, and tend to keep life simple, so here's my take on this whole 10 Commandments thing. It's what Sumpreme Court Justice Scalia had to say during arguments today
bulletWhen Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott replied that a disclaimer would ensure that the display was constitutional, Scalia interjected, "Why don't you do it....Then we wouldn't have this case." ADD A DISCLAIMER AT THE BOTTOM, that the US Government in no way endorses, or requires you subject yourself to some sort of religious belief, or any other general list of good ideas, cause after all, if you read the 10 commandments, they ain't bad ideas, now are they ???. As I listened to the opposition, they kept suggesting that to anyone who'd listen, so why don't we stop and listen to them, add the fucking disclaimer and get on to some real important stuff, like protecting our security from the animals who want to kill us all.
bulletYou know, I feel the same about this whole smoking ban too, in restaurants, or bars or other retail places of business. The owner of the bar should put a BIG SIGN on the front door, that SMOKING PERMITTED INDOORS. This way you can see right before you enter, that this place may not appeal to your type of lifestyle, and you can GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Come on smokers, grow some balls and stand up for your rights. Until they make cigarettes illegal to buy, you ought to be able to smoke 'em. And owners of privately held businesses have the right to cater to ANYONE they desire.

F  32-year-old Samir Hassan, who lost his leg in an October car-bomb blast, was determined to vote. "I would have crawled here if I had to," he told the wire service. "I don't want terrorists to kill other Iraqis like they tried to kill me. Today I am voting for peace," he said, leaning on his metal crutches.

When you get time... Try cleaning your computer monitor screen.Anyone who's has ever owned an aquarium knows that you have to clean the glass on the inside, sooner or later. Some people use to do that with a brush that is held to the glass by a magnet on the outside. In that way you can clean the inside glass from the outside by moving the brush up and down the glass with the magnet apparatus. The same goes for the inside of the monitor screen you are watching right now.

Up until now there was no such cleaner, but thanks to Microsoft there now is.

Just Click on the below link and move your curser up, down, back, and forth... This will clean your the backside of your monitor screen.

The results are amazing. My computer screen looks much, much better now. You will be amazed at the difference and how much better and clearer the words appear and how much it lessen the strain on your eyes...

For the best results it is recommended to do a thorough inside cleaning at least once weekly. Click on the link below to get started:

bulletSome awful events taking place in Indonesia as a result of the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis. My heart goes out to the people having to cope and prayers out to all the missing and dead. Now the analysis can begin to see what can be done to detect and warn in advance of these types of events. In my mind, 4-6 hours should have been enough time to at least let countries now of the potential and to begin to head for higher ground. Perhaps the death toll could have been lower in those farther off locations that were affected. If you can, donate to the Red Cross or some other relief fund.

One Nation Under God

A college professor, an avowed Atheist, was teaching his class. He shocked several of his students when he flatly stated that there is no God. The expression, "One Nation Under God," was unconstitutional and further, he was going to prove there is no God. Addressing the ceiling he shouted: "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you 15 minutes!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could have heard a pin fall. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting."

His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes when a Marine just released from active duty and newly registered in the class walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face and sent him ass over teacups from his lofty platform. The Professor was out cold! At first the students were shocked and babbled in confusion.

The young Marine took a seat in the front row and sat silent. The class fell silent...waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to, shaken. He looked at the young Marine in the front row. When he regained his senses and could speak he yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?"

"God was busy. He sent me."

God Bless America!

bulletA blue police uniform with a shiny badge

bulletA pot-belly pig on a leash
bulletThere is no better deterrent than a visual one. That's why cops wear uniforms now. Don't we want to stop someone from TRYING anything at all, instead of 'swooping in on 'em' after they already take over the plane ? And if he's gonna be on the plane, it should be with a visual show of overwhelming power, and nothing speaks better than that than to see one of the SWAT guys standing with a machine gun in his hands. And, the pot belly pig ? oh, well, he's there to entertain the children, of course.

bulletHere's a great article that covers the ACLU and the Boy Scout situation. Go Boy Scouts - http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=41492
bulletSo, let me get this straight. The Arab 'world' is 'enraged' that a US combat soldier killed one of the enemy in Fallujah ? Yes, the enemy that moments earlier was shooting to kill coalition forces was wounded and left to die, but didn't.   We come along, and having the prior experience of :
  1. having dead combatants blow up in our faces, because their comrades booby trapped their dead bodies, or
  2. enemy combatants pretending to be dead so they can attack an approaching American, or
  3. enemy combatants who wave the white flag, only to draw our forces into an ambush, or
  4. enemy hiding in schools, mosques, hospitals shooting at us

It surprises the Arab world that people get killed during a war ? That war is ugly, and real ?   What, we didn't warn Fallujah enough to get out if you don't want to fight and die ? After all, the 'leaders' are gone, so they knew how to get to safety.   the Arab world forgets that this is called a WAR. Objective is to KILL EVERY bad guy, so they never can fight again   But the Arab world doesn't seem to be so enraged over the facts that

  1. innocent civilians are being kidnapped, and have their HEADS cut off on videotape
  2. that aid workers who lived amongst Iraqi's for 30 years are kidnapped and shot in the head
  3. that insurgents take over mosques, hospitals and schools to store arms, or fire on coalition forces
  4. that thousands of their own people are buried in mass graves all throughout Iraq
  5. that females of all ages were raped in front of their own families while Saddam and his sons were in power
  6. that men of all ages were beaten and tortured in front of their families
  7. that BILLIONS of dollars were stolen from the very people it was sent to help (who are now enraged at us)
  8. that coalition forces are killed, then burned, MAIMED and torn apart, with their body parts hung from bridges
  9. that young boys are forced to strap explosives to themselves, and sent to blow up other young children
  10. that children are taught to hate, attack and kill in their schools and places of worship
  11. that outsiders are coming in to their country to start trouble

No, this DOESN'T enrage the Arab 'world'

The Arab world is dysfunctional if this is the case. And the only way to deal with it is to first ACKNOWLEDGE it.

Enough of this shit already. Somebody needs to also deal with the media who is fueling this nonsense, and have them start acting responsibly for the population of mankind who believe that good must overtake evil. And not give evil a chance to breathe or rationalize any behavior that is contrary to people living in peace and harmony together.

Don't air the audio tapes, the video tapes, the demands, the propaganda. If nobody can hear them and listen to them, they will go away. We need to marginalize them the way we did Arafat. Make them irrelevant.

And EVERY battle we fight should be with NO MERCY, swift, unrelenting and MASSIVE.

And if you really want to get to the bottom of it all, I say we can deal with the Middle East by dealing with a few European countries first. Let's take on France and Germany, and see how fast everyone else gets in line. These are the people who are enabling the terrorists to flourish, or who give them the impression that they may actually get somewhere with these terror tactics. These are the people we really ought to fight.

Now that's just my opinion, I might be wrong (11/20/04)

A Blonde is overweight, so her doctor puts her on a diet. He tells her, "I want you to eat regularly for two days,  then skip a day, and repeat the procedure for two weeks. The next time I see you, you'll have lost at least five pounds." When the Blonde returns, she's lost nearly 20 pounds. "Why, that's  amazing!" the doctor says. Cussing 101

A 6 year old and a 4 year old are upstairs in their bedroom. "You know what?" says the 6 year old. "I think it's about time we started cussing." The 4 year old nods his head in approval.

The 6 year old continues, "When we go downstairs for breakfast, I'm gonna say something with 'hell' and you say something with 'ass'. The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm.

When their mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios."

WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear with every step. His mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can just stay there until I let you out!"

She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?"

"I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your ass it won't be Cheerios

Dear Abby;

I am a crack dealer in Mt. Washington, KY., who has recently been diagnosed as a carrier of HIV virus. My parents live in Morehead and one of my sisters, who lives in West Liberty, is married to a transvestite.

My father and mother have recently been arrested for growing and selling marijuana. They are financially dependent on my other two sisters, who are prostitutes in Covington. I have two brothers, one is currently serving a non-parole life sentence at Eddyville for the murder of a teenage boy in 1994. My other brother is currently in jail awaiting charges of sexual misconduct with his three children.

I have recently become engaged to marry a former prostitute who lives in Campton. She is a part-time "working girl." All things considered, my problem is this. I love my fiancée and look forward to bringing her into the family. I certainly want to be totally open and honest with her.

Should I tell her about my cousin who is a Bush supporter?

bulletHere's an interesting article, whose subject is the mystery illness of Arafat. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=41286
bulletSo now Arafat has died, come back to life, is brain dead and gravely ill and is 'fighting' for his life. Why is that ? I thought he lived to die as a martyr ? Don't fight, go to Allah, smile, smile. Again, strap some explosives to him, and roll him down the Champs Elysse. As for brain dead, he's been that for 40 years.
bulletSo, Arafat is in a coma, let's hope he dies quickly. Question I have is if the Palestinians have figured out that the Rat fled to France, instead of strapping a homicide bomb belt on and calling a meeting with Sharon. When are these people going to figure out they are being exploited by their leadership, and expect some leadership by example ?
bulletAnd hopefully Bush can now go to France, demand that they turn Arafat over to either the US or Israel, so he can be dealt with as the terrorist he is. And if that doesn't work, I say bomb France for harboring terrorists. Just think of the gall of Chirac going to the hospital to visit Arafat. What was that all about ??? Perhaps to make sure that he still gets his oil and money from someone else ?, one last hug and kiss on both cheeks ? with any luck he gives Chirac whatever disease he has. (11/4/04)

bulletNow, for my 2 cents on the Yankees. I haven't paid attention to baseball since the strike 100 years ago. Seems I am the only one with discipline in these matters. I don't read the papers, watch the standings, or any of that. I will watch some of the ending playoff games, cause everyone else at home is. What I noticed for the 3 or 4 games I watched is that the Yankee players don't swing at strikes. I watched nearly every Yank actually watch and follow the ball into the catchers mitt, but they don't swing. They were swinging at pitches that were 'other' than strikes. To me this seems to be the wrong way to play. And if I was Big Stein, I'd take issue with that. (10/21/04)

bulletMy oldest son Jack is 20 today. No longer a teenager and all set to vote in his first Presidential election. Holy Shit ! Where did 20 years go ? To say the years flew by, would be an understatement. And as I try to figure out why it does feel like that, it dawned on me that it is probably a by-product of the type of life Jack has lived so far. I think if he was a bad kid, drawn to the streets, and appeal of being bad or tough, our life would have been more abrasive, and then feel like it was longer and harder. But Jack has lived an honorable life. Loving, caring, considerate, mature, wise. He's learned a lot. He's given a lot. His relationship with his mother is the key in my mind. Ohe yeah, I helped, by being there and doing what it is I do. But it's Rosanne who made the boys the men they are becoming and in Jack's case the man he becomes today. She has mothered them well, and should be proud of that achievement and the results. I Love You Jack, we love you, and are so proud of you. Be happy always. Happy Birthday !!! (9/18/04)
bulletI'm flying to that crazy land north of our border for 3 days. So, I'll be gone a bit. I do have some things I have to cover for that time period, so I guess I'll post what I can over this weekend. Check often, as I'll post as the moments come to me.
bulletOn 9/21 it will be 2 years that our boy Mark passed. It's really hard to believe that it's been that long, and then when you think again, it has been a long time as well. Our nights together haven't been the same since Ralph and now Mark left us. We miss them a lot.
bulletThis from our man down south TR. (9/17/04)

President Bush and Colin Powell are sitting in a bar.

A guy walks in and asks the barman, "Isn't that Bush
and Powell sitting over there?"   The barman says,
"Yep, that's them."

So the guy walks over and says, "Wow, this is a real
honor. What are you guys doing in here?"

Bush says, "We're planning WW III."

And the guy says, "Really? What's going to happen?"

Bush says, "Well, we're going to kill 140 million
Iraqis this time and a blonde with big tits."

The guy exclaimed, "A blonde with big tits?" "Why kill
a blonde with big tits?"

Bush turns to Powell and says, "See, I told you no one
would worry about the 140 million Iraqis!"

I expect there will be more pain to come, but there is no greater place than America and we must defend our freedom at all costs. We Must Never Forget.

bulletAwful news out of Iraq. A colleague has lost his son. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Ron Winchester. God Bless You and Thank you for your service to our country. Ron was home just a few weeks ago, and I was able to spend some time with him at a golf outing., He was extremely proud of his service, and the great accomplishments he felt we were making over there.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE - A Rockville Centre family is mourning the loss of their son, a U.S. Marine killed in Iraq Thursday.

First Lieutenant Ronald Winchester was home two weeks ago for a scheduled month-long leave and arrived back in Iraq last Sunday. The Department of Defense says he was killed during enemy action.

Winchester attended Chaminade High School and played football for the Flyers and at the Naval Academy. His family and friends described him as outgoing and popular with a dynamic personality.

The Village of Rockville Centre has lowered its flags to half staff in honor of their fallen hometown hero. Winchester's family says funeral arrangements have not been made yet.

bulletI just celebrated 25 years at my job (7/31). I guess it is a pretty significant achievement these days, but anyone who knows me, knows I am too lazy to move, so to me it was quite easy. What is remarkable is they haven't fired me for some of my antics. I do want to thank my current manager RR, and my admin GG for planning and funding a little get together. It was good to have some close colleagues join us, and I was even surprised when some ex-RNB'ers showed up as well.
bulletI just picked up a new dye-sub photo printer. A truly amazing printer, with quality that matches the local pharmacy photo lab or the online photo shops. It's the HiTouch Technologies 730PS. Standard 4x6 prints are running me $.30, with 5x7, or 6x8 slightly higher, but still less expensive than these places. I highly recommend this printer. It also operates standalone, without a PC and prints from 7 different media cards directly. Real slick  (8/25/04)
bulletYou know, I am getting tired of hearing about how holy the mosques are over in Irag. If these places of worship were so fucking holy, then the bad guys wouldn't dare use them. How can they be too holy for us to blow them the fuck up, when bad guys are holed up in them with guns and bombs, but they aren't too holy for them to be occupied like this in the first place. I say, take one last picture of the place, then level it.

"For centuries, the world's 120 million Shiite Muslims have revered the gold-domed mosque of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib — named after the slain cousin and son-in-law of Islam's prophet Muhammad — as a place of pilgrimage. Historians say the mosque was built in 977 in Najaf, a city regarded by Shiite Muslims as the faith's third holiest in the world after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.  It is said that the family of Ali buried his body secretly in Najaf soon after his death in 661. His burial place stayed a secret until the 8th century. "

bulletSo, over the weekend they installed concrete barriers in front of our building to ward of terrorists with a truck bomb. They look like candy dots, and monopoly hotels, here are pics of them unpainted, and after the special paint job. Some observations of mine, they left 2 gaps that 2 trucks can drive through to pull up right onto the sidewalk, and in either case, when the bomb goes off, the concrete will do extra damage as schrapnel. Again, if you ask me, it is easier, cheaper and more effective to KILL THE FUCKING TERRORISTS.

bulletThe Elusive Sail Capri has checked in with a hot new investment tip. (6/25/04)

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of Beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling price, you would have $214.00.

Based on the above, current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

It's called the 401-Keg Plan.

A woman was in a coma and nurses were in her room giving her a sponge bath.

One of them was washing her private area and noticed that there was a response on the monitor when she touched her. They went to her husband and explained what happened, telling him, "Crazy as this sounds, maybe a little oral sex will do the trick and bring her out of the coma."

The husband was skeptical, but they assured that they'd close the curtains for privacy. The husband finally agreed and went into his wife's room. After a few minutes the woman's monitor flat lined; no pulse, no heart rate. The nurses ran into the room. "What happened?" they cried.

The husband said, "I guess she choked."

bulletCheck out the pic I took on 5th avenue yesterday. This was heading downtown. It is Sergio Furnari's artwork/sculpture of Empire State Building construction workers having lunch while sitting on a beam fifty floors above ground in the 1930's.
bulletSergio's piece, which sat outside a bank on the edge of Ground Zero came under fire when the bank owners accused him of putting this "eyesore" next to their building. What the corporate executives didn't realize was not only was Sergio's piece beautiful, but it was an inspiration to the Ground Zero workers who passed by it each day in and out of work - it represented Growth, Spirit, Re-Birth, Courage and the best of the American Spirit that helped build and shape this country. It made you feel proud to be an American. Good work, Sergio.

bulletHere's a great quote from Sen. John McCain on the recent killing of NFL star Pat Tillman in Afghanistan. (4/24/04)

"I am heartbroken today by the news of Pat Tillmans death", said U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona,

"... But there is in Pat Tillmans example - in his unexpected choice of duty to his country over the riches and other comforts of celebrity, and in his humility - such an inspiration to all of us to reclaim the essential public-spiritedness of Americans that many of us, in low moments, had worried was no longer our common distinguishing trait...", McCain said.

An engineer of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Corporation died and went to heaven.

At the gates, St. Peter told him, "Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world; your reward is you can hangout with anyone you want in Heaven." The Engineer thought about it for a minute and then said, "I want to hang out with God."

St. Peter took him to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God. The engineer then asked God, "Hey, aren't you the inventor of woman?" God said, "Ah, yes." "Well," said the engineer, "professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention.

> 1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end protrusion.

> 2. It chatters constantly at high speeds.

> 3. Most of the rear ends are too soft and wobble too much.

> 4. The intake is placed way to close to the exhaust.

> 5. And finally, the maintenance costs are outrageous."

"Hmmmm, you may have some good points there," replied God "hold on."

God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and waited for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.

"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to the engineer, "but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours."

bulletThis just in from Roving Reporter. Finally got something good to post. You are giving Auntie a run for her money. Hey DC, submit shorter ones. The attention span of a Musings reader is quite short, and we tend to lose them with long funny stories. (4/20/04)

Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had set their new wives straight on their housework duties.

* The first man married a woman from Pennsylvania and bragged that he had told her she was going to do all the dishes and all the house cleaning that needed done in their house. He said that it took a couple of days but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were all washed and put away.

* The second man married a woman from Jersey. He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. He said that on the first day he didnt see any results, but the next day it was better. By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.

* The third man married a New York girl. He boasted that he had informed her his house was to be cleaned, dishes washed, the cooking done and laundry washed. And this was all her responsibility. He said the first day he didnt see anything and the second day he didnt see anything either. But by the third day some of the swelling had gone down so he could see a little out of his left eye!

Got to love these New York women

bulletTerrible news out of Iraq, with 4 Americans being ambushed, killed, then their dead bodies dragged through the streets, burned and hung, by various body parts.Only animals do this to humans. Our response should be swift and destructive. We should elimnate the town of Falluja and make it a 'graveyard of dead evil people'. bulletSo, Al Qaeda has called a 'truce' in Spain. Check this quote out from the letter sent to Spain

"...Because of this decision, the leadership has decided to stop all operations within the Spanish territories... until we know the intentions of the new government that has promised to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq," the statement said.

The Spanish people... chose peace by choosing the party that was against the alliance with America," the statement said. The newspaper planned to publish it Thursday.

bulletLets hope that Spain NEVER sides with the USA again for anything, because we wouldn't want them to piss Al Qaeda off and blow more people up. Didn't anyone in Spain ever have to deal with a bully growing up ? How were we all taught to treat bullies ? You stand up to them and fight them, otherwise they will keep coming, and using you, intimidate you, and basically make a pussy out of you. Look, truth is, we don't need Spain or anyone else on the freaking planet. They will need us at some point. To bail them out, or to defend them or to provide them emergency aid, or relief. Walk away now, and make room for the mullahs to take over your country, and perhaps move right in to your political offices. I bet the next threat is to France to reverse the head scarf ban or else they will bomb the Eifel Tower. Stay tuned.
bulletHere's another great article on John Kerry. Reading this today makes me wonder whether or not Mr. Kerry should be arrested on charges of aiding and abetting terrorists. Apparently he was given very specific information regarding security issues that were uncovered at Logan National airport back in May 2001. His response, was to pass the information along, because after all, the person who provided him the material wasn't one of his "constituents"
bulletThere is also an article that I am having trouble finding again. It covered John Kerry being interviewed during the Clinton years, where he basically took George Bush's position on national security and whether or not we need a multi-national, UN agreement to go to war to defend American security and interests. Hopefully, everyone is noticing that this guy goes with the wind and can't be trusted. And we are still 6+ months away from the election, wait until the real dirt comes out.

bulletQuestion of the week - Who is the Holy Cross mystery Knight "Mascot" ????
bulletI am noticing that the papers are reporting that there were 911 days between 9-11-01 and 3-11-04. According to my date calculation program, there is actually 912 days. Can Al Qaeda not count ? Can the news agencies not validate data before presenting it ? And, I'm staying home on 4-11-04.
bulletThe terrorist bombing attacks in Madrid, Spain were awful reminders of what we are fighting against, and I hope it serves to bring the planet so much closer to finally deciding to rid the world of these assholes. I think that as these idiots attack other 'borderline' countries they will only succeed in briging all of us together. We support you Spain, we will stand with you.
bulletHere is a pretty good opinion piece out of the NY Post on 3/11/04 covering John Ashcroft. This poor bastard is going through some painful gall bladder condition and has since had an operation. This guy is a national hero, and we ought to all recognize him for that. It takes a special kind of person to drive what you know in your heart is the right thing to do, depsite the pressure or attempts to undermine you. You have a large part of America's support Mr. Ashcroft, despite what you might read or hear. We are here, standing behind you. Let's keep pushing....
bulletI also wonder what type of person finds it necessary to wish pain, eternal suffering and plain awful medical conditions on another fellow human ? The same person wants pain killers for fetus' about to be aborted, so they don't have to suffer, yet they have no problem stating publicly : "I hope he is in the most severe pain a human being can suffer, and after that, I hope he remains in constant pain with no hope of relief". Now this is an intelligent, adult, relevant response to a policy issue, isn't it ? How do you reconcile this ?
bulletGranny D from Neoga is back home from the hospital. Angiogram was done, and all looks OK, which is wonderful news. Granny's spirits are high, anxiety relieved, and now she can concentrate on managing the condition. It was great talking to you, and we all love you very much and miss you.

bulletWith all the fuss lately about gay marriages, here is a response from the NYC Mayor's office, which to me, is at the crux of a lot of what goes on in America today. Whereby people complain about many things, yet they do not follow the proper protocol to 'effect change' properly. (3/1/04)

In a statement, Bloomberg’s spokesman, Ed Skyler, said: “The city clerk is following New York State law, which does not permit gay marriages. Advocates for it should spend their time persuading Albany to change the law rather than calling on the city clerk to break it. If the law is changed the mayor will make sure it is followed."

bulletThe Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured by an Indian war party.

The Indian Chief proclaims, "So, you are the great Lone Ranger. In honor of the Harvest Festival, you will be executed in three days. But, before I kill you, I will grant you three requests. What is your first request?"

The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse." The Chief nods and Silver is brought before the Lone Ranger, who whispers in Silver's ear, and the horse gallops away. Later that evening, Silver returns with a beautiful blonde woman on his back. As the Indian Chief watches, the blonde enters the Lone Ranger's tent and spends the night.

The next morning the Indian Chief admits he's impressed. "You have a very fine and loyal horse, but I will still kill you in two days. What is your second request?"

The Lone Ranger again asks to speak to his horse.

Silver is brought to him, and he again whispers in the horse's ear. As before, Silver takes off across the plains and disappears over the horizon. Later that evening, to the Chief's surprise, Silver again returns, this time with a voluptuous brunette, even more attractive than the blonde. She enters the Lone Ranger's tent and spends the night.

The following morning the Indian Chief is again impressed. "You are indeed a man of many talents, but I will still kill you tomorrow. "What is your last request?"

The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse, ....alone."

The Chief is curious, but he agrees, and Silver is brought to the Lone Ranger's tent.

Once they're alone, the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, looks him square in the eye and says, "Listen very carefully ....for the last time ....I said..... "BRING POSSE!".

When Walt started at Republic National Bank, I was 30 years old, half my weight, double the hair and nearly 7 months pregnant expecting our second son. To say that Walt has had an affect on my life would be an understatement. I attribute the better part of my style to Walt, while the rest of it is well, just me. Walt 'got' me. He understood me, knew I meant well, and that I was committed to the success of the organization. He knew I'd do anything to help, and we did everything with the people and the company in mind. Walt is fair, honest, wise, honorable and prudent. Anyone could walk into Walt's office, and no matter what he was doing, he stopped and gave you his complete attention. We got through pregnancies, 'blue moon' syndromes, a few data center moves, a couple of acquired data center integrations, RNB, TIC, TOC, IMPACS, BIMAS, Y2K, CSC, PEP, EDS, EPM, HSBC and now HTS.

You should be proud of your legacy, and I for one will miss you immensely. You mentored many of us over the years and we will pass that knowledge, and experience on to the next generation of IT professionals.

I will remember you in many ways, but none as much as my friend.

My hope is that we will cross paths again.

God Bless you and good luck to you in Florida.

bulletRoving Report provided this amusing piece (2/5/04)

Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand, and the Senator asks him what his name is.  "Kenneth." "And what is your question, Kenneth?" "I have three questions:

First - whatever happened to your medical health care plan?

Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?

Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?"

Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess. When they resume Hillary says, "Okay where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?"

A different little boy puts his hand up; Hillary points him out and asks him what his name is. " Larry." "And what is your question?" "I have five questions:

First - whatever happened to your medical health care plan?

Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?

Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?

Fourth - why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early? and

Fifth - what happened to Kenneth?"

bulletRoving Reporter must be cleaning out the inbox. We have a couple good submissions to post. Here goes (1/28/04) :
bullet Two married buddies are out drinking one night when one turns to the other and says, "You know, I don't know what else to do. Whenever I go home after we've been out drinking, I turn the headlights off before I get to the driveway. I shut off the engine and coast into the garage. I take my shoes off before I go into the house. I sneak up the stairs, I get undressed in the bathroom. I ease into bed and my wife STILL wakes up and yells at me for staying out so late!"

His buddy looks at him and says, "Well, you're obviously taking the wrong approach. I screech into the driveway, slam the door, storm up the steps, throw my shoes in the closet, jump into bed, slap her on the ass and say, "WHO'S HORNY.....?!!!" And... she always acts like she's sound asleep."

bullet A lady approaches her priest and tells him, "Father, I have a problem. I have two female talking parrots, but they only know how to say one thing."

"What do they say?" the priest inquired.

"They only know how to say, 'Hi, we're prostitutes. Want to have some fun?'"

"That's terrible!" the priest exclaimed, "but I have a solution to your problem. Bring your two female parrots over to my house and I will put them with my two male talking parrots whom I taught to pray and read the bible. My parrots will teach your parrots to stop saying that terrible phrase and your female parrots will learn to praise and worship."

The next day the woman brings her female parrots to the priest's house. His two male parrots are holding rosary beads and praying in their cage. The lady puts her two female parrots in with the male parrots, and the female parrots say, "Hi, we're prostitutes, want to have some fun?"

One male parrot looks over at the other male parrot and exclaims, "Put the beads away. Our prayers have been answered!"

bullet NEVER ARGUE WITH A WOMAN

A couple goes on vacation to a fishing resort in northern Minnesota. The husband likes to fish at the crack of dawn. The wife likes to read.

One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and continues to read her book.

Along comes a game warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, "Good morning Ma'am. What are you doing?" "Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?")

"You're in a restricted fishing area," he informs her.

"I'm sorry officer, but I'm not fishing, I'm reading."

"Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up."

"If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman.

"But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden.

bulletThe Elusive Sail Capri sent over some great police stories. Here are some of the better ones : (1/26/04)
bulletDID I SAY THAT??? - Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a line-up. When detectives asked each man in the line-up to repeat the words: "Give me all your money or I'll shoot," the man shouted, "that's not what I said!"
bulletARE WE COMMUNICATING?? - A man spoke frantically into the phone, "My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart!" "Is this her first child?" the doctor asked. "No!" the man shouted, "This is her husband
bulletTHE GRAND FINALE -- Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, Cal. some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 ft boat going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power was applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted to a nearby marina, thinking someone there could tell them what was wrong A thorough top side check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard ... NOW REMEMBER... THIS IS TRUE Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer
bulletSo, my oldest boy Jack just got done installing headers into his 5.0. Man, the car sounds sweet now. That pony hums. It's hard raising boys to respect others, teach them to live and let live, when it is a daily fight between the haves and have nots. It seems the have nots decided they needed to have one of his tires. so, middle of the night, these fucking idiots jack up his car and take one of his rear tires. As I tend to look on the bright side when such things happen, it is good they only took the tire, as taking the whole car would have been worse. I am sure there is a lesson to be learned here, so we buy a new tire, some lug locks, and move on. Hopefully, the rat bastards will put the tire onto their car, and it falls off as they are doing 90 mph.

bulletDC shot this one over. It is an appropriate reminder for the French of the planet, on the issue of the English language.

WHY IS IT THAT WE HAVE TO SPEAK ENGLISH

An officer in the U.S. Naval reserve was attending a conference that included admirals from both the U.S. Navy and the French Navy. At a cocktail reception, he found himself in a small group that included personnel from both Navies.

The French admiral started complaining that whereas Europeans learned many languages, Americans learned only English. He then asked: "Why is it that we have to speak English in these conferences rather than French?"

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied: "Maybe it's because we arranged it so you did not have to speak German."

The group became silent.

bulletTV passed along this video clip. I think the male fans of the Musings will appreciate the situation. By the way, this is one of those postings that you should NOT look at Frankie J... Simply titled Who's car is better ?

bulletIsn't this what it is all about in the end ? When do the rest of the Arab and Asian nations realize this. Fighting is not productive, being the bully is not easy. Or as the Borg like to say, 'Resistance is futile', One way or another, at some point in time, all countries need to establish free market systems to enable their own people to prosper and live their own lives, pray to their own God, and live peacefully with the rest of the world. You are NOT going to beat America, or our way of life, no matter how many of us you kill, or planes you crash. So get on board the bandwagon and enjoy your time on the rock (12/22/03)
bulletDec. 19 - Arabic television al Jazeera aired an audiotape purportedly from al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri, saying the United States was defeated in Afghanistan. I'm wondering to myself, could this guy be in a different part of Afghanistan ? He may also believe that we didn't catch the real Saddam, we caught one of his doubles, with a case full of $750,000, who I guess was such a good double had to hide in a hole to stay safe...  Oh well, without the conspiracy theorists, we would have no entertainment whatsoever. Two gay men decide to have a baby. They mix their sperm, then have a surrogate mother artificially inseminated. When the baby is born, they rush to the hospital. Two dozen babies are in the ward, 23 of which are crying and screaming. One, over in the corner, is smiling serenely.

A nurse comes by, and to the gays' delight, she points out the happy child as theirs.

"Isn't it wonderful?" Brad exclaims. "All these unhappy children, and ours is so happy."

The nurse says, "He's happy now... but just wait until we take the pacifier out of his ass."

bulletYesterday 9/9/03 the FDNY had the final memorial service/burial for the last of the 343 firefighters lost on 9/11. Hard to believe that 2 years have passed and families are still burying loved ones or whatever parts of them they can find, and the pain continues. 2 Years have passed and it still hurts. We New Yorkers have done pretty good all things considered. We live and feel the pain each and every day. We live not knowing if today is the next attack. We leave our families each morning to go to work, not knowing if we won't be back. We've 'Moved On' as they say. But we must 'Never Forget'. I know I can never forget the images of the day, week, year, 2 years. I know I can't forget the smell that lingered for months or the images burned into my head when I close my eyes. We have family and friends we work with each day, who suffered losses, and we continue, because we must. Oh, we do forget from time to time, like when we plan to travel, or argue with our friends, families or loved ones. We shouldn't, but we do. I am sorry Rosanne. I do get caught up in things myself as hard as I try not to. As painful as it can be, I do think we need to remind ourselves of what happened, so do watch the memorials, the documentaries and read the people stories, because that is what it is all about. And do cry, cause it does help, trust me. But please, 'Never Forget' and God Bless America.
bulletTake some time and re-visit my 9/11 memorial page. http://www.jackleone.com/wtc091101.htm . You won't find depressing photos. Only patriotic symbols of the human spirit from that event.(9/10/03)

bulletSome interesting articles regarding the Blackout of 2003. This one suggests that Al Qaeda caused the outage, for a small cost I might add -->  http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4475.htm . This one goes back to June 2003 and covers the exposure to our infrastructure with some scary facts identified. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4478.htm . Draw your own conclusions, but do have the debate. The risk is real and the faster we consider the implications in our daily lives the better off we will all be.
bulletSome images of NYC during the blackout. Thanks to the Elusive Sail Capri for the submissions. Blackout Pic1 , Blackout Pic2. (8/21/03)
bulletPeople are starting to wonder. Every time something happens lately in Manhattan, I am conveniently out of town... While you all dealt with the power outage for 29+ hours, I was for the most part in air conditioned environments while I was stranded up in the Buffalo area unable to get a flight back home. Walking the streets of downtown Buffalo you would never know that most of the northeast power grid was without power. I do have a photo to share with you as I snapped this on my way to Canada for a conference. It is the Niagra Mohawk power plant. Draw your own conclusions...
bulletI thank my wife and EVERY one of my colleagues and associates for the REMARKABLE commitment they showed to handle this crisis. This is the time that New Yorkers show their true grit and I am proud to be associated with everyone involved. My wife is the primary point of contact for our leg of the family and she also maintains our emergency reaction kit and supplies. All worked as expected and as I am sure all others have found, improvements can be made. Here is a pic of the wife after the event. She looks tired, because she is. Regardless, she is still beautiful to me. Thank You Rosanne --- I LOVE YOU !!!
bulletAs far as the job is concerned, I have a lot of love for our team as well. My managers CS, GB, ET, SY get an equal share of my love when it comes to how they handled their organizations. You guys are the BEST. We have many stories and personal adventures to share and each of you are to be commended for your actions. My hat goes off to the facilities and security folks, whose equipment and processes supported us throughout the entire event flawlessly (with some room to improve). All worked as was designed and it is humbling to see these teams at work under these conditions, all the while maintaining positive attitudes. My boy Roy and his team of what used to be blue shirts did a remarkable job considering the situation we were in. This was the day they all have been training for as we have exercised routine generator tests for 20+ years. It all paid off today my friend and you ought to be mighty proud of your group, because I sure am.... THANK YOU !!!

bulletThe Elusive Sail Capri has come out of hiding with a couple of good submissions.

Look here, old chap, what are you doing?" the officer asked.
"I'm sorry," the American replied, but I really gotta take a leak."
"You can't do that here," the officer told him. "Look, follow me."
The police officer led him to a beautiful garden with lots of grass,
pretty flowers, and manicured hedges. "Here," said the policeman,
"whiz away."

The American tourist shrugged, turned, unzipped, and started
pissing  on the flowers. "Ahhh," he said in relief. Then turning
toward the  officer, he said, "This is very nice of you. Is this British
courtesy?"

"No," retorted the policeman. "It's the French Embassy

bulletNever again in your lifetime will the Red Planet be so spectacular!
This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars, an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years but it may be as long as 60,000 years.

On August 27, Mars will come within 34,649,589 miles and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August, Mars will rise in the East at 10 p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m. But by the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 a.m. That's pretty convenient when it comes to seeing something that no human has seen in recorded history. So mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

Share with your friends, children and grandchildren. No one alive today
will ever see this again!

bulletOur roving reporter CS provided this 'borderline' dumb blonde joke. Seems like we are scraping the bottom of the barrel. (8/4/03)

A girl calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me... I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?" The girl says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger." Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, hen looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger." He held her hand and said, "

Second, I'd advise you to relax. Let's have a drink, then ..." he sighed, and said "Let's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.

bulletUNBELIEVABLE. I go out on 2 weeks vacation and the 1st day out we had a bomb scare at the job. http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/1826.htm . Some knucklehead tries to rob the branch, handcuffs the manager to a suitcase he says contains a bomb, and the fun began. Buildings were evacuated while the cops sort this all out. Here are some pics of the poor manager with the suitcase - pic1 , pic2 and the fake bomb , which turned out to be painted broomsticks, wire and tape. Steve who was my OIC did a fine job securing our people, keeping management informed and moving command and control to our NJ facility.

bulletSo, it looks like there is going to be another Leone male in the family. My brother's lovely pregnant wife had a sonogram done and seems the bun has one of those male appendages. She knew it right away cause it was the same size as Bro's. If I can get my hands on the pic, I'll scan and post. If not, I think I have one of Bro when he was a tyke we can share. Since the things are identical, you can get an idea of what we're talking about ... Here's the pic
bulletRemember the run away turtle ? Well, our neighbor across the street found him/her/it crossing the street this morning. I guess it  found his/her/it's way out of the yard. And all this time, my boys thought I took the critter for a ride. You see, Dad ain't the kind of guy you think he is. On the other hand, the hamster they got, that was by himself for the past 2 weeks, seems to have had an immaculate conception, cause it gave birth yesterday and now we got 3 hamsters, and there best not be anymore coming, or there is a long ride in their future ...
bullet Our roving reporter CS followed a recent flurry of submissions with this Little Johnny diddy. CS thinks that your chances of getting posted increase with the volume you send in. WRONG. It's the QUALITY that counts. And you're in College ? Geez !!!

Little Johnny was in his nursery class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living.

All the typical answers came up - fireman, policeman, salesman, etc...

Johnny was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out to the alley with them."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some coloring, and turned to Little Johnny to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"

"No," said Johnny, "he plays for the Mets but I was too embarrassed to say so."

bulletTV sent in one of those illusion photos. You know the kind, where you have to stare at it so your mind focuses to see something else. Well, I've been staring at this all day, and either my mind is shot, or TV is full of shit, but I can't make out the waterfall, no matter how hard I try. Perhaps you'll have more luck.  (7/17/03)
bulletRemember that turtle my boy got recently ? Well, there has been a breakout. Seems the turtle climbed out of the contraption he was in. No one knows how he did it, but he's out and roaming around the yard. Figure he'll either mosey on home soon, or else the critters who live out there at night will get to him. I suspect the latter is more likely to happen.
