They are finally going to build a building on the parking lot site the Bank used to own. RNB never did it, due to some dispute with the city over air rights and number of floors. There will be a 31 story hotel/condo/retail building going up over the next 2 years. It starts in July, and I expect there will be some blasting and pile drivers. It should be fun keeping our mechanical plant clean. This is going to ruin my sliver of a view of the park, that I enjoy. And they call this progress ?

I get a lot of email. Whether it is a newsletter about PEZ, or subway notices, to the 3 or 4 lotteries I win every day. Well, this was a new one. I got this one twice in the same day. I guess I should be flattered...

Today, March 20, 2008 marks 25 years that I have been married to Rosanne Albanese. If anyone knows either of us, then you know that it's been a 'fun' time. We are good together. We have been through quite a lot together, and it started early for us. And I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We've been up, we've been down. I've hurt her, and disappointed her a few times. She's never done that to me. I'm always sorry for those times. Yet, all this time, I've tried to keep our life happy and filled with laughter. It's also Potter's birthday. I think he's 6 today.

A lot of work has been done at Shea Stadium. The circle is completely gone. They are making a direct road into the parking lots, widened the road and added a traffic light. Also doing some work with pavers near the highway, and beginning to paint the parking spaces in the older lot. Plus, the subway promenade is being rebuilt, and looks like there will be some sort of elevator for the disabled.

We added a few windows and a new door on the old homestead.

I think Barack Obama has a real problem with his priest. And, all I have is one question. What the fuck is the 'social Gospel' ? I think if we ask him to define that, we will clearly see who our next President of the United States should be. Here's a news flash. ICE breaks up a 'vast illegal immigrant smuggling ring'. They arrested 13 people, after a 3 year investigation. Now, something bothers me here. According to the Feds, this ring was responsible for smuggling nearly 100 illegal immigrants a WEEK. Do the math. 100 * 52 * 3 = 15,600. So, after 3 years, 15,600 ILLEGALS came in, and we CAUGHT 13. What the FUCK is wrong with this picture ?

A lot of people and countries kept saying and thinking that George W. Bush was stupid, crazy, wrong, etc. I think he's brilliant. Why, you might ask ? Well for years, the US was the main advocate pushing the Iran nuclear issue. We took much heat, ridicule, scorn for that. Well, we release a report that states that maybe, perhaps, we don't have to worry so much, because Iran looks to have stopped their efforts in 2003. Now, what's happening ? We have every other country now, and the UN IAEA saying we are wrong, they feel Iran has continued, we have to stop them, do something, etc. It's beautiful. We stepped back, they stepped forward. Brilliant.

The Pavonia power shutdown went quite well. Excellent teamwork by all support groups, with great project management oversight to help manage the overall effort. We were down for 16 hours. We did have a minor diesel spill that entered the Hudson River and had to be cleaned up, otherwise, all went well. Here are the pics. Well, after repeating myself every week at the infrastructure meeting for the past 52 weeks, the weekend we've planned for for months is upon us. A complete building power shutdown at our NJ site happens Saturday. I'll be working Fri-Sun with many others to ensure this goes smooth, and we are back up for Sun/Mon. As it happens, this is the same weekend that we first moved our RNB production processing to this facility 15 years ago.

Today also marks 25 years that my mother-in-law RA passed away. It was a month before our wedding when we lost Mommy, and I have to tell you, my wife and I sure wish she was still with us. My wife would have made her proud for the life she has accomplished, and for the 3 fine young grand-boys she'd have from us.

We got a few birthdays to shout out. Happy Birthday to DA, AP, and GGs Momma. Also, our boy Krumb turns 50, and NO, he hasn't mellowed yet.

My son Joe was just informed that he was accepted into the NYPD Cadet Corps. He starts for them in January, making good money, and getting the on the job training and experience that will help him transition into the Police Academy once he graduates John Jay.

Jack is being bumped up where he's at to manager for the area. Way to go guys. Mom and Dad are proud of both of you.

Rosanne has reached 20 days without smoking. That's a remarkable achievement for someone who has smoked as long as she has. Amazing will power as she faces life's daily challenges. She has been tested, but has really focused her energy on this effort. Plus, living with me ain't easy, so if she can get thru a few weeks with me around, she can definitely beat smoking.

My AL is recovering from recent surgery. We wish her a speedy recovery. (12.16.07)

Here's a story. A few days ago Rosanne misplaced her house/car keys. We looked all over, and blamed everyone. She wakes up one night and recalls getting out of the car by the jetty. We go there, 4 days later, she retraces her steps, I wonder what someone would do if they found them passing by, and as I looked up, there they were on the fence. Wild.

My son Joe turns 21 years old today. Wow, time does fly when you stop to think of it. Joe is a remarkable young man. He makes us so proud each day of his life. I've been called many things in my life, however yesterday I was characterized as 'provocative', by someone trying to help.

We have family of friends who are close to losing their homes in So. Cal, due to the raging fires. We hope all ends well, but the situation is quite serious. And to hear that some of these fires may have been set, is very discomforting.

Aunt Vi has passed away. She's my wife's aunt, and one of the last remaining family the girls have. Our prayers go to cousin Richie D at this time.

It was good to see MJ2 yesterday. Hey, if things continue as they are now, I may be seeking his help.

Yesterday was one of my most difficult days at work. laying people off is never a pleasurable experience, and having to do so to GG of all people hurts the most. Some things just aren't right, despite what legal may say. It is further compounded by all the colleagues and friends who also lost their jobs. Not going to be a pleasant remainder of the year.

Our boy Mark would have been 50 today. Sadly, he didn't make it. He passed 5 years ago, and is still missed by the Boyzz. Take some time to visit Mark's page and reflect on what it was. (10.24.07)

My Uncle Nick died today. He was 72 years old. He battled lung cancer for over a year, and leaves us today. Uncle Nick & Aunt Diana were also my God-parents, and one could not ask for a better couple. Today is also my 50th birthday and I am grateful that I was able to see my uncle before he passed away. He remained strong and aware until the end, and recalled my Christening during our visit. Our family will comfort each other and support Aunt Di, my cousins Diane, Frank and Michael, and their families, my Mom and Dad, AJ & UD , who lost their older brother, and my dear Grandmother who will have very difficult moments now to bury her oldest son. OK, that rat we saw dash into the ATM lobby a week ago is now dead. We can tell by the special aroma in the ATM lobby, that also wafts outside and affects our delicate pallets. And our facility folks decided to allow 'nature' to run it's course. Well, that's gonna take a while, and it ain't smellin good in there.
