| Our middle son, Joseph Anthony is getting married today. Wow, is to put it mildly. While creating this photo, it is remarkable to us the quick passage of time. We aren't surprised that Joe is marrying Kim. We always knew he would. We're proud of the man he has become and his maturity and independence. We worked hard raising a man for the times we live in. The time, and sacrifice that his mother and I have made are expressed in the person Joe has become. We love you son. OK, so now I'm totally confused. NYC.gov is offering to 'giveaway' nicotine
patches and gum. Presumably to help smokers quit that nasty addiction they
have. At the same time, NYC reaps beaucoup bucks from tax on cigarette sales.
Shit, a pack costs $15. Presumably the high tax on cigs helps pay those
'necessary' social services we so proudly offer and provide our less fortunate
citizens. Presumably the intent to offer more
of my tax money to fund 'giveaways', is to help smokers stop smoking, and then
stop paying those high taxes on the cigs, which is paying for the free
services. Is my contribution to the current cost of services going to
increase, or are we at the same time reducing those free services we offer our
less fortunate citizens, or are we going to need to start looking for a new
revenue stream to tax, other than me to keep the engine running, or are we
just going to increase my current taxes and get more from me ? |
