We had a great time at Nicole & John's wedding last night. The bride was beautiful, and the groom was quite handsome. Everyone had a blast. This is the first great-grandchild wedding that Zelda attends, at 100 and 8 months in age. She partied until 2am. Next up is JaL & KM's wedding in March 2012. Nicole & John Wedding - August 2011

From DpF.

President Obama has just confirmed that the D.C. earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault."

Obama also announced that the Secret Service and Maxine Waters continue an investigation of the Quake's suspicious ties to the Tea Party.

Conservatives however have proven that it was caused by the Founding Fathers simultaneously rolling over in their graves

bullet

Did you feel the earthquake ? We did, somethings up ...

bullet

Saw a few Justice League Super Heroes on the Library steps the other day. Superman didn't look too happy...

It was nice getting the original team back together. Sad the reason for it, but I am sure we will all continue to remain in touch and good friends. Good luck to SaY on his new gig, GG is settling in, ET is all set at Sears, and now Easy Rider needs to finalize a few things, and we should all be good ...

bullet

Where else but 5th avenue can you see people wearing umbrellas as clothes ?

bullet

I'm riding the subways going on 35+ years now. I've seen and heard a lot. We have the rats, the garbage, the alluring smell of urine in the summer. Every so often, we find a refrigerator or hobo on the platform. But, here's a good one. A perfectly extruded 11 inch turd. That's right, check it out. 5th Avenue # 7 train subway station. For reference, those tiles are 12 inches.... This is almost a work of art. Think of the commitment, discipline and focus necessary to produce such a perfectly formed shite sausage.

8 years ago, the bank acquired Household International. This week it was announced it is now being sold off to Capital One. Many colleagues and friends will be leaving us, as they will move with the business to CapOne. I wish them luck. It's been a good run. Here's a quote from that Reuters article that's making it's way around. This comment obviously has no bearing on the work we do in IT to support a business. We ran a very efficient, productive service organization in support of this large business of ours. We in HTS are proud of what we have done, do currently and will continue to do under new leadership. We are professionals !!!

Reuters quote -
"... The sale further unravels HSBC's disastrous $15 billion purchase of U.S. consumer lending firm Household in 2003, which triggered billions of dollars of subprime mortgage losses. Executives now say the purchase of Household, which included the credit card business, was a mistake..."

bullet

The deal is announced. HSBC selling our Credit Cards business to Capital One.... Here's an interesting comment from the article

"... The deal further unravels HSBC's disastrous $15 billion purchase of U.S. consumer lending firm Household in 2003, which executives now admit was a bad deal as they have taken massive losses on the sub-prime home loans they took on..."

A beautiful rant by my bro FL. I'm so proud of this man ....

Afghan, see ya we're leaving - enjoy Karzai. oh, and if ya bomb us - w...e kill all of you. Dear France, Nato, you want Khadaffi out ? Fuck you, do it yourself. Wanna buy some weapons for the effort? China, counterfeiting all our goods? great, here's some nice taxes on all imports. Retirement age - 68. Medicaid- each state is on their own. Illegals ? - get the fuck out!! Im not paying your Medical and Education - how can any American disagree?? Should we educate the Planet??!! IRS - cut them, redo taxes. 1% of every transaction. Leftie commies like Steve - we take all your assets and give them to the Treasury. There, we're fixed ..."

Great effort by the team. We successfully transferred our loads to the temporary generators on 39th street. We ran our live DC loads on them for 2 hours, and it all checked out good. We didn't get all of that crazy weather yesterday, but we did get some of the hail. Well, today marks 32 years for me as I chase the Art Ross milestone for tenure.... As I look back, it has been an amazing transformation, both for RNB as it grew, expanded, and was acquired by HSBC. It's also been a transformation for me. Look at my day 1 photo, and then look at me know ... I've transformed !!!

We grew from a small, corner, no raised floor 4 PDP machines, to a world class Bank with dozens of data centers worldwide, 4 huge centers in NA, 2 smaller Trading Data Centers that I helped manage.

Our team has been through it all, many are just starting to move on, with as many years as I have in. I am proud of what we have accomplished, what we have developed into and the processes and practices we developed to sustain our high level of availability and quality operations services. I am also concerned about our future, but know that wherever management plans to steer the ship, the team left in place will adapt and adjust their sails to meet the challenges before them.

Our last 2 early summer butterflies emerged yesterday. Both are beautiful, however, as nature has it, one was not entirely perfect. We did lose about 4 of them due to natural selection. I will say, that we haven't found any that survived on their own in the yard, so we've done our part to extend the species...

Here's an update to a post I made back in May. Through Ro's persistence, we got through to Toyota, and they have refunded us a total of $1,923.28 out of the $1,840.74 we spent on the work. That's right, we made a few bucks on the deal. It took a lot of hard work, she didn't snap as much a she could of, and wore them down. Another example where if you stick up for yourself, and are on the side of right, you will prevail. Just be fair, respectful and persistent.

5/15/11

bullet

Not sure if I mentioned it already, we recently spent $1,800 on Ro's RAV4 to replace the rack and pinion assembly. It was making a knocking sound, and was leaking fluid. They said it could have been dangerous if it seized while we were driving it. Of course, we are about 1 year past the warranty, never bought the extended warranty either. Either way, we're pushing back. I've done research and no one has ever heard of this part being replaced until way past 100,000 miles, and then rarely, if ever. We have about 40,000 and only have the car 4 or 5 years. We're making great progress. So far they are willing to refund the $800+ parts cost. Now we're working on the labor part. If the part was defective, we shouldn't have to pay the cost for the labor to replace the part you are giving us money back on. I think in the end we will prevail. All thanks to a very persistent Ro !!!! - Thanks Ro !!!

I know the Casey Anthony verdict has upset many people. I think we ought to look at how the media reports on such matters. If you listen to jurors, follow testimony, and consider the premise that the prosecution is supposed to prove you committed a crime, you may have come to the same conclusion. Emotions are supposed to be removed from such deliberation, and facts must prevail. You can 'believe' she's guilty, but that's an emotion, not based upon fact, most likely based upon what some ignorant reporter told you. Our media are dumbing the population down, coupled with poor education, is making for a very ignorant populace to take hold in this country. We don't think for ourselves any longer, and critical thinking is almost eliminated totally. Everyone takes a side at the outset, which is wrong. That should concern us all, because once emotions begin to rule our thinking process, mob rule isn't very far off.... That's just my opinion, I might be wrong...

Only a guy like Rush can summarize failure so succinctly.

"... To agree with Obama and the ruling class, you have to ignore the trustees who oversee our entitlement programs. You have to ignore the Congressional Budget Office. You have to ignore major credit-rating bureaus. You have to ignore the unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy figures. If you want to agree with Obama, you have to ignore everything else you're hearing. You have to assume everybody else is lying and that only Obama is telling the truth. You have to ignore all the measurements and trends rational people look at to determine policies. You have to ignore all of that to agree with Obama..."
