Hope everyone made it through Hurricane Irene OK. We had some minor work to do in the basement and living room. Many images and stories we hear are of difficult times for folks. Be safe and patient.

Our butterflies are back laying new eggs. Here's an interesting shot of a few new eggs. Not sure what the clear one means. Also, these eggs all strung on the fennel are new. We have no idea what they are, and will be watching to see what hatches.

I'm riding the subways going on 35+ years now. I've seen and heard a lot. We have the rats, the garbage, the alluring smell of urine in the summer. Every so often, we find a refrigerator or hobo on the platform. But, here's a good one. A perfectly extruded 11 inch turd. That's right, check it out. 5th Avenue # 7 train subway station. For reference, those tiles are 12 inches.... This is almost a work of art. Think of the commitment, discipline and focus necessary to produce such a perfectly formed shite sausage.

8 years ago, the bank acquired Household International. This week it was announced it is now being sold off to Capital One. Many colleagues and friends will be leaving us, as they will move with the business to CapOne. I wish them luck. It's been a good run. Great effort by the team. We successfully transferred our loads to the temporary generators on 39th street. We ran our live DC loads on them for 2 hours, and it all checked out good. Next up ... dismantling the old generators on the roof, and rigging the new ones. THANK YOU ALL for your hard work and long hours this weekend.

Say hello to G. He's been holding court in front of the library the last week or so.

The scaffold is up and ready for the generator replacement project. This scaffolding will be used to run power cabling to temp generators on the street, as we replace 2 of 3 from the roof.

Godspeed Atlantis. You served your country well. They keep saying that it will be 5-10 years before we have a replacement fleet of vehicles. Why is that ? Shouldn't they have been developing that replacement 10-15 years ago ?

Here's an update to a post I made back in May. Through Ro's persistence, we got through to Toyota, and they have refunded us a total of $1,923.28 out of the $1,840.74 we spent on the work. That's right, we made a few bucks on the deal. It took a lot of hard work, she didn't snap as much a she could of, and wore them down. Another example where if you stick up for yourself, and are on the side of right, you will prevail. Just be fair, respectful and persistent.

The caterpillars are flourishing, we have about a dozen protected, with a bunch more still on the fennel. In fact one has started to cocoon.

We hung out with PO JaL down by the jetty the other night.

I caught Curtis Sliwa walking past the bank the other day. Stopped and said hi, and thanked him for supporting the CP Memorial Day Parades each year.
