Happy Halloween to all you goblins and ghouls - Here are some of our visitors
It's always a good day when the mailman delivers me a new Pez. Bolo Bear is the mascot of Liverpool, a Mexican Department Store chain. Ain't he cool ? Viva Mexico
The house project is in full swing. What a freaking mess. The new hardwood floor looks amazing, we have wonderful light now in the living room, thanks to the addition of 6 high hat lights. We have a few new doors and an expanded opening. Today we should be seeing the new banister get installed, and the floor upstairs will probably get it's first coat of poly soon. With all that banging, the basement is coated with a layer of dust, so that's gotta be next for us.
Here's a few new shots of various critters hanging around ...
Bongo Billy and his beautiful wife VM made the Wall Street Journal. They covered this years ALTSO benefit. For more pics from the benefit concert, checkout Ro's pics. Crossing Streams plays ALTSO Event - Oct. 2011
JjLJr and Ro contemplating the work about to begin .... he ain't gonna get any sleep for a few days ...
More trees removed down by the bridge in preparation for the work.
I've heard of TPing a house, but newspapering a car ???
The city has new ways to coverup an eyesore, with 2 years worth of construction starting, this temporary yard will at least be a bit more pleasing to the eyes....
Here's an interesting Statue of Liberty mural on a local restaurant by the Library.
Here's just a small taste of my Pez collection. These are the dispensers I have on display...
Our Easy Rider, LF, stopped by for a visit. Soon, he's back as a contractor ...
Look who just showed up. Haven't seen Tyson come this close in months
Bought our new sofa last night. Our salesman was Michael. Came home checked our paperwork and his last name is Hunt. Swear to God, we bought our furniture from Mike Hunt.... say it again .... and again .... lol
The DOT keeps postponing our big generator lift. So we keep waiting. Things are gonna starting bumping into each other, so get ready for a rocky road... but no worries, we got the best people doing the work, just need to get going... while in the current delay of game, here's a retrospective of the work so far. NYC Generator Replacement Project - Fall 2011
FjL turns 19 years old today. Our baby is in his last year as a teenager. What a young man you have become. We are so proud of you. You're handsome, funny, smart and cool all at once. You're a man with swag. Enjoy your day, and continue to Live, Love, Laugh.
Congratulations to FjL. He made the Deans List at John Jay and was invited to a special reception tonight. We are very proud of you boy. I love you thisss much...
We need to get 2 huge Caterpillar generators up to the roof. Was supposed to be today, but the NYC DOT cancelled it due to the winds. We've been postponed twice already, setting us back now 8 weeks. Next date - 11/5/11 - stay tuned ....
Here's the impact already to that work being started at the bridge. With fall upon us, this is how this strip of road should be looking, and look what they've done already.
Ro took some good pics at the Crossing Streams plays ALTSO Event - Oct. 2011 - Crossing Streams and Bongo Billy rocked the place ... and yes Anthony, I should start going to this.
I'm sure that having Furio from the Sopranos at the ALTSO Benefit encouraged slightly higher contributions to the cause ...
Bryant Park is building The Pond ice skating rink again...
A question for Russell Simmons. What opportunities are not available to every US citizen, that allowed for him to succeed. I would suggest none, other than his efforts to WORK for what he has achieved. Would he say he was given someone else's opportunity or money? So instead of hanging out in some park for weeks. Expecting others to clean the park, feed them and provide the clothes, how about they go and FIND a damn job. There are PAGES of want ads. Btw, 9% unemployment means there is 90% employment. Enough already. Are Celebrities Supporting Occupy Wall Street the Movement's Heroes, or Hypocrites?
Here's a real nice pic of Rosanne.
Here's a short video I put together of Ro saving that horseshoe crab. It's a riot... Thanks Ro !!!
I know, it's been a while. Working on a ton of stuff at home, clearing out our basement, living room. Getting ready to do our living room and hallway, so I got stuff backed up to post. Enjoy ...
Happy Birthday to Just in Time, JM. Enjoy your day today.
Caught this beautiful monarch butterfly snacking on our flowers.
Remember that caterpillar that skipped it's container ? Well, we found it on the kitchen backsplash...
We came across FjL, working the fish counter at Waldbaum's
I also found another rogue caterpillar, half-baked as they say on the desk. I guess this supports the notion that I got a messy desk...
I took care of that 'coon that tore up our yard. Bring this message back to the gang, don't fuck with my lawn !!!
We got stuck in traffic on Rt 110 yesterday. This poor bastard probably tried to make one of those never ending lights out on the island...
I think this is going to be the couch/love seat we end up buying. Simple, elegant, and leather, so it's easy to keep clean and will wear well.
It was low tide, so we were able to get out into the water a little, and Ro was quick to jump up on the huge rock under the Whitestone Bridge...
My honey did her bit for nature, and saved this lost crab ...
Working in the basement, we came across our wedding matches ...
More stuff from the basement, 10 reasons why we should keep the kitten ... (PS- we didn't)
I should have knocked before heading down to the basement - never know what Ro is up to.
The St. Agnes Walk-a-Thon was the other day, and boy do those gurls make a racket. NG stopped by as we cheered them on...
IA from the security team that supports us was recognized for his customer service efforts. He's a good guy to us, and we appreciate him as well. Thanks man and congratulations !!!
What to do, what to do. Do you listen to chinese fortune cookies ???
I don't like Apple products, but the passing of Steve Jobs is still something to memorialize. He was a brilliant man, and will be missed.
My old man turns 75 today. Looks damn good for a really old fart. Have a very Happy Birthday. I love you !!!
I use a database to keep track of my collection. I try to keep an online report handy so I can do quick lookups at home, or on my droid. I call the application the Leone PEZ Tracking System - LPTS - follow the link for the most current uploaded inventory report.
Got a surprise delivery the other day. CbS from our Flushing High School days, stumbled across the Musings in her travels. Saw the interest in PEZ and sent down from Syracuse a 2010 Wegman's truck Pez. No self respecting Pez collector would be without this unique promotional item, and I am pleased to say I do have it. I also appreciate the thought and time taken to donate to my cause. I'm a lazy collector, and now I have a mint on card Wegmans to add to my loose one on display. A good way to begin a month. And perhaps the next reunion, I will attend. :-) Thanks for the kind words, and be well. (I couldn't find you on FB to send a message)
If you ever played handball down Whitestone Park, under the bridge, then this is going to be painful. They've torn down the ball courts and wall. There's a 2+ year project starting. They have even begun to relocate the kiddie rides. Stay tuned.
And who was by the Library the other day, Adolph Obama.... what a great idea, and a weird photo ...
Back a few years the Bank was sponsoring Jaguar Formula 1 racing team. Hot Wheels put out this great set, that I just had to get. I was re-arranging my desk, and put it in a prominent spot.
Only on Facebook can wasteful retorts like this occur.
SaY and SR were out front catching up on things. SaY is now over at Wells Fargo, doing what he does best... managing a data center.
Seems we still have leftover damage from Hurricane Irene. Wind must have been blowing real hard to set a 'Vette atop a building...
It was cloudy when I took this pic of the bank. I filled the gloomy sky with black, and it made the photo pop. I kinda like it, hope you do too...
My shredder jammed the other day. It's a pretty good unit, cost $160 2 years ago. Cleared the jam, won't power up. Found a damn fuse soldered to the control board. What bullshit. Removed it, went to Radio Shack, bought a fuse, inline fuse holder, re-soldered and shredding away once again - total cost - $6.00. Now I can replace the next fuse a bit more easily... Why isn't this fuse configured to be replaced by the user to begin with ?
If you're from the Point, you'll recognize Kleinert Rubber Factory. They're doing something to the complex...
Here's a video everyone should watch, and then send to their congressman. This is the issue in this country. People who think like this. We don't have to argue in person, and get all emotional. Judge Judy brings it out rather nicely. And there are equal examples with all colors of Americans represented, so this ain't about race, it's about ideology and perceived entitlement. Listen to this morons logic. Is this right or is this wrong ? I also think this particular problem is quite easy to fix. Especially in this day of electronic debits, e-Verification or other technology based solutions that would ensure that this money is expended properly. This moron, and morons like this, should NEVER see the ACTUAL cash. His entitlement, er, 'assistance' should be based upon his actual rent. That rent and occupancy can easily be verified, and the entity providing him living should submit request for payment. It gets validated, he lives there, is in good standing, and the landlord gets paid electronically. The money never has to touch his hands. The system is fucked, and will continue like this because it is a 'payoff' for votes. Wake up America.... Take OUR country back. We The People are awakening, and we are VOTING in 2012....
Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter-in-law, KpM. Enjoy your day !!!
My folks stopped over the other day to sing Happy Birthday to me and JjLJr. ALways fun to hear us sing together ...
These coppers were preparing for a visit to the NY Public Library by Dear Leader ...
Stopped by to See GaD and baby AJ the other day. Isn't my niece a beautiful mother, with her beautiful baby boy ? Any my honey loves holding babies ...
Walked into Lollipops for dinner the other night, and who's already there, Zelda, AJ and UD. We enjoyed a great dinner of breakfast together.
We had a wild sunset tonight. Check it out.
On our way to B&V's Rockin 50th Birthday bash, we stopped off the highway and took some nice shots in the woods along the river. Bronx River Pkwy & Locust Wood area - Sept. 2011
Great birthday gift from the boys. Obama nails Osama.... nothing better than to see this fuck with a bullet in his head... thanks Jack, Joe, Kim and Frank. I love it...
Nice pic of JjLJr, Ro and FjL
Tonight on Geraldo .... it's PO JaL
FrankieV got carried away picking snot out of his nose, and wiping it in his hair....
Its never a good sign when there's a NYPD command post in front of your building
Just got a new delivery of Pez... yippee... Phineas and Ferb and Lord of the Rings
54. I know I can't believe I reached 54. And to think my grandmother is gonna be 101. Thanks to everyone who dropped me a note or rang me up, I do appreciate it. It's much more fun to me when I'm on the giving end of my Happy Birthday notes, so I feel funny when I get them back. Anywho, thanks again, and I 'm looking forward to my next birthday.
It's another year gone that my Godfather and Uncle Nick was called home. I miss you and think of you each and every day. I know Aunt Di and your family miss you even more. I also know how happy and proud you would be of how your family is growing and living. I Love You !!! - Nicholas Leone Memorial page
We had an awesome time at Billy & Vivian's Rockin 50th Birthday Bash this past weekend. The bands were great, the special performance by JM and AM was fantastic and the overall vibe was of good friends celebrating life ... Great evening guys, thank you, and I hope you enjoy the pics - Billy & Vivian Rockin' 50th Birthday Bash
Happy Birthday to my son Jack. He turns 27 today. We are proud of the man you are and love you very much. Enjoy your day today...
A nice pic of AJ, Grace says he has his dad's smirk, me I think the rug rat is crapping ....
Will try to get to the Orchard Beach Classic Car Show tomorrow... hope to see you all there ...
Damn 'coons ripped up the grass overnight. What's with these fuckers? ??
If you like the blues, check out Shemekia Copeland at Lincoln Center in November. Awesome performer .... We got our tix, and will be rocking with Bongo Billy and the wives ...
T-minus 1 week. If you are around 40th and 5th next Saturday, a really big show to see. 2 old generators coming off the roof, 2 new ones going up ... Mufflers are out and the shed is all ready. Great work comrades ...
El Presidente - MG, visited the jobsite to check on progress.
I always knew that CC was a closet conservative. Check out the judges name
Our second crop of butterflies emerged. 2 of the 3 arrived yesterday, and look beautiful. There's one more, which is probably it for this year.
Here's a cool perspective of 461 from my perch and through the new awning.
No matter how many times I take this shot, I like the way our building looks.
If you saw the recent Curb Your Enthusiasm you may have seen the car periscope. Is that what this gadget is on this SUV ?
Ever hear the expression, 'it just fell from the sky' ? Well, I came home and there was no dead bird, 5 minutes later there it was in the driveway. Fucking thing just fell from the sky... We have every cycle of life in our slice of Queens...
I think that was the harvest moon the other night, either way it was pretty cool.
I'm a little behind with this, but the cats are caged. Some knucklehead tried to steal cables during the hurricane, so we had to resort to drastic measures.
Happy Birthday to the Big Guy, WFP from down Tampa way. We miss you man...
I couldn't resist. What if the Amish Outlaws met AJ ?
Visited AJ in the hospital. A beautiful baby, and I ain't just saying that because he's family. Here's the pics - Happy Birthday AJ - Sept 2011
First photo of AJ on his birthday. Beautiful.
Yahoo did a very respectful gesture this morning.
AJ has arrived. Congratulations to my beautiful niece GaD and her husband AD, on the birth of their beautiful baby boy AJ. AJ came to us today, and shows how despite all that has happened on this day, America moves forward, lives continue and we hope for a better future for young AJ. God Bless your new family and congrats to the Grandparents, great-grandparents and all of us aunts and uncles ... I'm waiting for an AJ pic, so here's Grace 'preparing' to head to the hospital
10 years on. A decade. That's a lot of time and a lot of distance. It doesn't matter. It still hurts. Sometimes more than it did back then. I have a few 9/11 shows recorded, haven't been able to watch them. Can't finish reading articles, or stories. Can't go downtown, instead I view Scooby's pics so I stay close. I've seen TC and his family head down to PA for another annual pilgrimage where their mother and aunt died as heroes, and it still hurts. Our son is now a cop, on duty at the WTC area, doing what he can do. His memory is of watching the towers burn from Holy Cross High School. Too many distractions, not enough remembrance or assurances that our 'leaders' won't let it happen again. So, we gather, we pray, we look inside ourselves, and we press on. We're New Yorkers, and we're Americans. We're ready if we need to be, and We will Never Forget - visit my special link, and Remember The Blood of Heroes - it is painful to watch, but important to remember that day.
Here we go again ... Water broke, back to the hospital ... A good day for a birthday - 9/10/11 ...
Congrats to BO from work on his marriage this weekend. Attended by a bunch of the boys from the building.
A couple of gals from the Rockies arrived and spent quality time with Scooby. Goth the full Scooby tour of NYC .
I wouldn't mind being a squirrel for a little while. They seem to enjoy themselves...
Lots going on over this, be careful out there... especially you POJaL ... we love you !!! be careful !!! 9/11 anniversary: Officials chase unconfirmed al-Qaida bomb plot
My daughter-in-law was interviewed by the Queens Chronicle for a 9/11 piece. Story about my roof mural.... great work. Thanks KP. Witness to history remembers horror
Happy Birthday to Bongo Billy. He turns 50 today, with a big celebration bash coming up in a couple of weeks.
Took some great video of the caterpillar entering the chrysalis phase. Took all day keeping an eye out for him, as the process once started doesn't last long. This is a 2.5 min time lapse video. Since he was upside down, it took him 16 minutes to complete the process. Nearly half the time just shaking off the old skin.
What exactly is the 'Progressive Honor Roll' ? And is everyone on it ?
My Emerson UPS went into a battery recharge alarm. Not sure why, but it reset OK, and seems OK. May need to order batteries ... hint, hint ...
Working in the basement, and came across this early pic of Frankie J driving, with his brothers....
Added a new item to my PEZ collection. Now mind you, I only collect this shit, I didn't design or make the Pez Panties .... And if you're wondering if Ro tried them on.... well.... perhaps, is all I'm gonna say. :-)
TG and my RL - 2 hot momma's....
Stopped by TG's and hung out, and walked around the Bowne Park and Neighborhood. Nice homes and a great scenic park.
I got a pretty decent macro pic of a spider at TGs house.
A couple of my 'guiding' principles.... Country and heritage
