Happy New Year everyone. 2011 was a wild ride of a year, and I'm quite sure 2012 will be as much, if not much more fun and adventurous .... be safe out there, enjoy it, and remember to Live, Love, Laugh.... cause' without laughter, we're all fucked
Here's a shot of some of the team at work, who keeps things running smoothly ... we got WP, MW, JjLJr and Sir Isaac ...
Spotted this bug on the pumpkin. Never saw one before .... If you know what it is, drop me a line.
Looks like we'll be getting a new Staples store and some bread joint in the building...
By now, it's obvious I like taking pics of small critters. I really like squirrels, so here's a few more cool shots.
Enjoyed my possum stew last night for dinner. it was just a tad stringy, otherwise, just as I like it ... :-)
It's the day after Christmas, which makes it my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday Momma, I love you !!! Enjoy your day
Here's our Christmas pics of family & friends. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves and had a very peaceful Christmas ... Merry Christmas 2011
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope it is peaceful time for you and your families. Let's also remember our armed forces deployed throughout the world at this time...
There's a lot of theories about how the fat jolly guy does what he does in a single night. I've spent some time looking into it ... here's my report ... WARNING, not for our younger or naive friends ... Santa, the scientific view...
Not sure if you are on the Naughty or Nice list ? Here's a way to tell real quick if you've been really bad
Happy Birthday to Sparky. He's 7 or 8 today, and looks the same, so I used last years pic ...
Go Giants !!!
Happy Birthday to my brother FL. Enjoy your day. I love you boy !!!
What sort of person walks up to another home, and steals mail deliveries left on the stoop ? Well, this is the type of person, and here's his car too.... JjLJr was ahead on his Christmas gifts until the stupid fucking grinch stole his brothers' gifts ... bah humbug ...
This shop at Bryant Park figured out what to do with all those Pez candy wrappers, make a purse out of them ...
Me and Johnny 5 had lunch to celebrate Christmas....Always fun when we 2 blokes get together...
Here's a weird scene. New commercial aimed at children for tangerines. Kid is eating while laying down, but it's OK. There's a warning that states eating while laying down is a choking hazard.... why fucking show it then ????
Holy fucking shit !!!
Stop checking your mailbox for our Christmas card. Here it is this year... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to you and yours.
Our squirrely friend was back the other day. Enjoying our nuts ....
Freedom rising, a view from Jersey City... Never Forget ... God Bless America ...
Fuck those paltry 30amp fuses you have at home... Here's a 2,500 amp fuse ....
It was good to see old friends all together today. TN stopped in, said hello to the boys on 1w6. There was CR, KC and RC, and then he joined the old team for lunch. SaY, SR, and LF all made it. We missed those who didn't make it, you know who you are, and look forward to our next gathering.
Hey Scooby ... look up !!!
Hey now ....
A very Happy Birthday shout out to my beautiful niece, MS. Enjoy your day today. We love you.
We left a bunch of nuts out, which brought this cute little critter to the yard to gather them up ...
We had our annual HTS Holiday Gathering the other night. Pretty good turnout and nice to see us all get together as a team. There may be less of us each year, but we still know how to party. KC is sending me more pics, and I will update the pics page when I get them. For now, enjoy these photos. HTS Holiday Gathering 2011.
Had a very nice dinner with my cousin LF and friend for Christmas. Afterwards, we played ping-pong, and now I gotta schlep our table up from the basement...
Ro's RAV4 is like a sharp object magnet. She came home with this piece of something lodged in her rear tire ....
101 years old. Zelda celebrates 101 years of life. And an amazing life it has been. Yeah, her hearing or eyesight could be better, but hey, she's 101. Sharp as a tack, an energetic dancer, and a memory that history books can't replicate. You amaze your family each day, and we ALL love you with all of our hearts. There's always a lot of positive energy coming your way. Happy Birthday Grandma !!! I Love You !!!
Get them while they're still legal. I just bought 96 100 watt bulbs. Jan. 1, 2012 they become unavailable... CFLs suck and you all know it...
A special Happy Birthday shout out to my sister AtA. Enjoy your day today. I Love you !!!
Zelda came over to see the living room work, and we sang Happy Birthday. Grandma turns 101 on Tuesday. Here's a short video of her visit with us.
We were treated to a special surprise, my old man singing Feliz Navidad on the guitar. I say a surprise because he can't sing or play the guitar ...
We had a nice time at Frankie V's birthday party. It's always fun when we all get together. Frankie V turns 8 years old - December 2011
Frankie V turns 8 today... You're my favorite niece kid ... Happy Birthday ... I love you man !!!!, we'll see you tonite ...
It was a great day to ice skate yesterday. Ro and her crew enjoyed themselves, and met new friends, which is always exciting. I took FjL and JM to lunch, while VM and Ro added Facebook friends, from different places .... And no one can light a fire like Woody...
I love watching Ro skate. She's so graceful and poised.... a very pleasing sight to see....
Got an idea for a gift for my skating bunny ....
Got a new Pez. The giant Captain America. How kool is that ?
I had to drop FjL at Waldbaums for work, and on the way out there was this weird accident. The kid driving this car just wanted them to flip it back over because he was late to work... I'd hire someone with that much commitment. Here's another reason why I don't shop at Waldbaums. Way too dangerous to park...
Hey DMac, we're starting to decomm the old RNB collapsed backbone infra. It served us well all these years... do you need any Rittal racks ?
The BofA building adds a nice backdrop to the park. I enjoy taking these photos of the building.
My honey looks like she can be one of the Bryant Park Christmas Tree ornaments ...
After 40 years and a bunch of accidents and too many deaths, we have a working street light on 127th street and 11th avenue.
I can't believe it's December already. Where has the year gone. A good sign is seeing the Freedom Tower rising from the Whitestone Expressway....
I like this shot of the moon from the other night....
As the saying goes, you have to break an egg to make an omelet ...almost done
Here's a view from the 7 train El, overlooking the Grand Central Parkway ...
I've got no protection ... We finally started this smoke detector and Halon panel replacement project...
Scooby is in a place called Greenland covered in friggin ice, and we have people ice skating on a pond ... go figure ... Yup, Ro ended up skating on this puddle of water on top of ice ... The Pond at Bryant Park
from TR, brilliant, simple analysis
Why the U.S. was downgraded:
U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:
Annual family income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Lesson 2 - Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:
I added about 2 dozen new pics to My Favorite Prints collection. They have been posted over the course of the last few months.... enjoy
We spent some time walking along the area near Fort Totten. Took some nice pics of Ro and the scenery.
The cooked turkey and my hottie honey are ready for company... gobble gobble...
Turkey's done, now I'm working on the gravy... plus Packers are winning, so far so good
Ladies, start your birds ... ours is on it's way
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope you enjoy today with family & friends. It's our favorite holiday too, and as Louise mentioned, we watch the March of the Wooden Soldiers and the Macy's Day Parade too. We top it off with Alice's Restaurant played at noon.... so enjoy
I call this Lake Camry. It rained hard overnight. Got in car this morning to drive to Shea, and noticed all this water on front passenger floor. Seems roof drains got clogged. How come that isn't part of the Toyota free 27 point check ?
Saw a headless man walking into the library today .... that's all I got ....
Somehow, every time someone stops by to visit, I'm not at my desk. The gurls are back in town ... watch out nYc ...
I'm starting to like the new color of the CRACs...
Our friend DMac is enjoying retirement and passing on the skills...
Here's something you don't see every day. The Dept. of Sanitation picking up the NYPD Horse crap as the horses came past during the Veterans Day Parade....
It's taken over 40 years, but we finally have a stop light going up on the corner of 127th Street and 11th avenue. Since I'm a kid, we've seen real bad accidents there, and it's only gotten worse over time. I remember one motorcycle accident when I was a teenager, where the poor bastard was killed and left parts of his skull and brains on the road ... so, this is a long time coming, and many lives lost...
We might have a new Pez collector in our midst. See Scooby and the Pez Presidents
If you do nothing else today, read this article. It's perfect timing given today's' series of 'protests' by the Occupy Wall Street retards. The Festering Obamavilles - by Phil Elmore
It was a long weekend, but we still managed to enjoy ourselves. Ro got herself a lot of ice time, and I took some nice pics of the area. I always enjoy seeing my honey glide on the ice... The Pond & Bryant Park Hotel - November 2011
Checkout the Freedom Tower, as seen from the LIE...
Hey Boom Boom, this is the high school my old man went to in East Harlem ... as seen from the Triboro...
Although this dude was hanging out at Bryant Park, he is NOT one of those Friends of Ro. She did NOT strike up a conversation with him...
After months of planning, and weeks of weather related delays, we got those 2 new generators up onto the roof. A truly impressive experience to witness. These riggers know their business. Another month or so, then we will move our critical load back onto them, and off of those Cats on 39th street.... Good work lads, we salute you all !!! NYC Generator Lift - November 2011
While the landlord finally got to lift those new generators to the roof this past weekend, we did a bunch of work ourselves. We installed 2 new AC units, replaced a logic board in our UPS, ran the temporary generators and performed a UPS battery discharge test. Whew.... the boys are tired .... AC Installs and UPS Battery Discharge - November 2011
We also visited the Veterans Day Parade down 5th Avenue. Always great to honor our servicemen and women, past and present. Veterans Day Parade - NYC - Never Forgotten - Nov. 2011
Here come the photos. We had a great time at Jazz at Lincoln Center, with our dear friends B&VM. Saw the amazing Shemekia Copeland. Do wish it was a longer set, but she was fantastic, and showed the crowd how amazing she is. An Evening with Shemekia Copeland and Friends - Nov. 2011
This is one of my favorite images from the weekend generator lift activity. Interesting thing is, I have a photo of the generator that states it weighs 28,100 pounds. If a ton is 2,240 pounds, then 28,000 pounds is 12.5 tons..... hmmm.....
Checkout this panoramic view from our room at the Bryant Park Hotel - wonderful ...
Wherever Ro goes, she manages to make friends. Whether it's in a cab, at a club, a hotel, or the ice rink and a construction site, she is quick to strike up a conversation. Thanks to Robert for upgrading our room, and congrats to R & M on their 8th (13th) anniversary.... (hope u made that girl)
To say I have a ton of pics to prepare and post is an understatement. After two and a half days away at work and play, I have pics from our night with Shemekia Copeland and our good friends, the Veterans Day Parade, pics of Ro at the Pond and her new friends, and work pics from the generator lift, and our AC installs and Battery discharge test.... prepare yourselves for a massive photo dump ....
Final preparations are being made for tomorrow's generator lift. Months in planning, and weeks delayed, it looks like we finally get to do this tomorrow. Good luck lads, go slow, and safe ... Thanks to ScoobyFitz for the pics....
Today is Veterans Day. A day to honor our fellow Americans who took to serving our country. Some lost their lives protecting us and our way of life, while others serve today or reflect upon prior service. We honor you all. Each and every one of you. Thank You for your sacrifice.
A short video of our first 2 ACs coming out, and new ones going in. We have 9 more to do in the next 8 months or so. Thanks boys for a job well done ... 2011.1105 CRAC Replacement
Congratulations to SaY and his bride, DY. They are the proud new grandparents for MC, born on 11/2. She is as beautiful as her mom, and makes the 2nd grandchild for SaY. Too many people my age are starting to have grandkids ... I ain't ready, do you hear that JaL and KP ????
Fire extinguisher or pumpkin ??? I'm so confused at times.
My honey made her first of many trips to The Pond at Bryant Park to ice skate. She always looks hot on the ice ... I'm quite surprised the ice don't melt, when she steps on it ... ;-)
Here's a few nice building shots from the area.
And here's the Freedom Tower rising, as taken from the LIE near the tunnel.... (it's on the right, hey we were doing 60 mph)
A couple of Happy Birthday shout outs ...
Here are those pics from the CRAC replacements this weekend. We have 2 more to do next week, then 7 more for next year. Remove, Install, Repeat 4 more times ... NYDC CRAC Replacements - November 2011
After a rough night, and a hard day, Scooby got a hug from Ro, and things were just a tad bit better...
The Chief joined us for lunch, and no, that ain't JjLJr's beer, he was on a break from work ...
CRAC replacements started last evening, and after nearly 12 hours of drama from Otis Elevator, we got the units in. Once those units were out, there was no turning back. Units 10-2 and 10-3 served us well through the years. Finally, Scooby and the boys have our units online... what an amazing performance by a top notch team... thanks guys... get ready for 2 more next week, then another 7 by June...
It's always a good thing to give props to the folks who make the place run like a top. We have AC, from our security company, J&R, AP, with Scooby and PK, and of course CB with our Chief.... Thanks guys, without you all, nothing works right ...
This time Scooby, dust is GOOD, scratches are BAD !!!
In my attempt to pass along tradition, JjLJr and I had lunch at my usual place, and I introduced him to the girls ...
Congratulations to JjLJr, who just reached his 1 year anniversary at the bank. I'm at 32 years, you got a ways to go ...
This is the room that Henry built for us. We call it the High Density Blade Room. It performs as promised. Its unfortunate we never threw the remaining load on it to see it run under stress, but it runs like it was designed... thank you Silver Fox...
Hey there's the Silver Fox... I'm sorry I missed you today. Glad you stopped by... thanks Scooby...
We have furniture... holy cow, it's real nice. After painting the kitchen and dining room, this project should be completed today. Then it's putting stuff back...
I spotted this handsome creature at CitiField the other day ...
DjC didn't believe me when I said I was able to see him through VJs skull, but here's the proof ...
The Postal Services created a stamp with a picture of
President Obama on it. The Postal Service noticed that the stamp was not
sticking to envelopes. This enraged the President, who demanded a full
investigation. After a month of testing and $1.73 million in congressional
spending, a special Presidential commission presented the following findings:
