The new ramp being built at Shea Stadium is coming along.
And this article about cutting back on lending.
We had a very enjoyable dinner with my parents and Grandmother, celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary. The veal at Primo Amore was very good.

Joe was ready to buy his first car yesterday. We went over to Star Toyota, saw our man Yang Lao and he walked out with a 2009 Yaris by the evening. Got himself his first loan, and his own auto insurance. Congratulations Joe !!!.

Hey Mr. President, Madam Secy of State, DHS chief Napolitano and most excellent Panetta, read and watch this report out of Kuwait. Then, get on TV and tell the American people what you think about it and plan to do about it ...
I just scored tickets to see the NY Mets play the Boston Red Sox at the new CitiField on April 4. It's an exhibition game, but it's only the second game to be played at the new field, about a week before opening day. Here's a slick link to see the view from your seats at the new stadium.
JM got banged up skiing down the slopes. He's sore and limping, and we wish him well.
My AJ sends in a video that everyone should watch. How to put out an oil fire in the kitchen.
Got a broken appliance ? Use Timely Appliance company. They are the most honest repair guys around. Our washer broke, they came in and made it all better for $168.

Happy 52nd Anniversary to my parents. I look upon them in wonder at achieving such a milestone. It can't be easy keeping a marriage together that long.
Happy Birthday to my UD.
Me and my honey enjoyed a beautiful sunset over College Point the other night.

A very proud grandfather from Buffalo, DF, sends in these videos of Quick Fingers O'Dwyer aka CO doing Beethovens Fur Elise and Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag on the piano. Not bad for an up and coming 14 year old...
With the economy tanking, and the value of the bank shares plummeting, it is kind of nice to see the super rich being affected as well. It looks like the Russian who was buying the late Edmond Safra's fancy $634M pad called Villa Leopolda is trying to back out of his purchase. Too bad for Lily, eh ? Ever since Safra sold Republic National Bank, things are just going downhill for all of us.
Congratulations to my nephew NL, affectionately known as 'Noodles'. He passed his driving test today and joins the ranks of Leone's who can legally drive a motor vehicle. I've seen him drive, and it's better that he lives out on the Island, than here in Queens.
Here's a funny one from Roving Reporter
A little boy says to his mother, "Mommy, how come I'm black and you're white?"
His mother replied, "Don't even go there! From what I can remember about that fucking party, you're lucky you don't bark!

Hey Scooby, this is the gadget I was talking about to day at lunch. A sun-powered device converts CO2 into fuel....
I'm trying to stay out of the Eric Holder is a coward mess, however, Larry Sinclair has a good piece why Eric Holder should know about being a coward. I couldn't say things better.
ScoobyFitz submits this photo. It appears that Monica Lewinsky was also at the inauguration.
Now that Iran has launched a satellite into space, it is reminding everyone of the potential for them to use the technology for an EMP attack on either us or Israel. I posted items a year or so on this subject ....

Here's a nice video tribute to Shea Stadium. Thanks for the memories.
Here's a couple of videos of the stadium and the final wall falling.
Well, Shea Stadium is gone. I left in the morning and the last wall was there, and I returned in the afternoon to it completely demolished. I've been chronicling the construction and changes around the stadium since 2006. I'm not a Mets fan, in fact I complain whenever they do good, because of the extra cars it generates where I park my car each day. But I have to tell you these last few months have been tough to watch. To watch the stadium fall a bit each day was both interesting, but also felt unnecessary. I also have pics of Shea on Flickr
Me and my honey have been down with a stomach virus the last 2 days. Jack started us off, and now we've all hugged the bowl a few times. I'm sure it will be coming to a home near you soon. Things like this have a nasty way of making the rounds. Drink gatorade and maintain your electrolytes.
On my way home tonite I got to witness the next to last fall of the last remaining parts of Shea Stadium. Here's some video I took of the fall. The last remaining structure will fall 2/18
BT sent an email informing those that bought those Gotham Thunder Dragon Boat team raffles, that we were losers. Oh well, still for a good cause. Checkout the information on the team.
This Letter to Kellogg's comes to us by way of the Elusive Sail Capri. You see, those with differing political views can agree on some things after all.
Not sure if you can make it out, but we spotted a three legged dog down the park.
Here are the latest images from the Shea Stadium site. Just another day or 2 before it's all gone.

You are on the bus when you suddenly realize ... you need to fart.
The music is really loud, so you time your farts with the beat. After
a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your stop.

Sad news to report. A plane crashed into a Buffalo neighborhood. Am working to see if any of our friends were impacted. Here's a Google maps view of the block.

I like hanging out in front of the Bank. I've been doing it forever. People ask me why I don't walk around more and enjoy the sites. I usually tell them that I don't need to walk around, because the whole world passes by right in front of me there. Well, finally I have actual proof of that statement. You see, the world does pass by right in front of me.
Shea Stadium is almost gone. Here is a very surreal image that I took today.
I thought that since 9/11, no planes were supposed to fly over Manhattan. This one went right down 5th Avenue, towards the Empire State Building. Kinda eerie.

I've got a new list that I'm building, and I need your help. I'm calling it Things to be Mindful Of, and it's meant to be
A primer for the youth of America
And a refresher for their parents and grandparents
I'm sure you have some ideas for this list, so send them over, I'll sort them, judge them as worthy and post them as I receive them. Our youth need help, and this will definitely help them develop into kinder, gentler, humans. At least, that's my hope and desire.
They call this the hottest video in the history of history. I actually think they might be right. My new hero is Leo.
If we need 24 million more smokers each year to fully fund sCHIP, then why is there $75 million for smoking cessation programs in the stimulus bill ?

Man, they got a big rat down Whitestone Park.
I came across 2 of the Factors boys. Here's TV and RC, hanging out during the snowstorm.
My rear window was shattered this morning, and I didn't even notice it when I got in the car and left. Cost nearly $1,000 to replace it.
We had another pretty snowfall the other day. Me and my honey walked thru the Powell's Cove park and took some nice pics. Ro even managed to make a snowman for everyone to enjoy.
The Musings is even popular in Gaza. I'm sure our friends in Palestine know we support them, so long as the approach is with ink and paper, instead of rockets and mortars. You show up in a suit with a smile, and all of the USA will ensure the Israeli's do the right thing.
Well, our 2008 TPM session closed. All's I can say is
Words of wisdom sent in by the Big Guy, WFP.
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.
You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
The late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931 to 2005
Here's a great new PEZ shirt, that KP came across. Hey, I'm fine with these things.
It seems that someone is paying attention and reading the Musings. Looks like Citibank may be trying to get out of the $400 million marketing deal naming the new Mets ballpark. After all, you can't bitch about a $50 million dollar jet, when you want to spend 8x more money for naming rights. I say they should leave it as Shea Stadium, or if it must change call it Citizens field, or how about Jackie Robinson Stadium ? Field of Musings has a nice ring to it, no ? It's time for a new Musings poll - What should they name the new Mets ballpark ?
There were a bunch of Mets fans and geese hanging around Shea Stadium yesterday. Some sort of gathering for the fans to say their final good-bye as the old stadium is near final demolition.
I got my NYC notice of property value the other day. How come all mortgages are failing, house values are dropping, and don't equal loaned principle, but our house INCREASED in value ??? I guess the city can collect more tax from an increase in the value of a home, versus a decreased value...
Try this out at home yourself. See if u can land a plane in the Hudson river
This is from LF, and is one of the funniest videos I have ever watched. It's probably all over the news by now. 2 New Zealand prisoners who escape and run into a pole while still handcuffed. F@!%k#ng Hilarious ... Enjoy
Something to ponder -
How can 2 million people get into Washington DC in sub zero temps in 1 day when 200,000
couldn’t get out of at 85 degrees with four days notice ?
Boom Boom enjoys a birthday today. Happy Birthday my friend. Hope your TPM went well.
Roving Reporter came across this in her travels. There's no one as Irish as Barack O'Bama - by the Corrigan Brothers
Here's a good article by Walter Williams that tries to lay out the risks with the stimulus plan. There is no Santa Claus.
I came across this gaggle of canadian geese by Shea Stadium. I immediately thought about Flight 1549, and I have to tell you, these geese ain't so tough when a 3,000 pound Camry is smacking them around. Hey Sully, I'm reporting a multiple bird strike.... That's for you dude ....
It's a good thing it wasn't George Bush who mistook a window for a door at the White House. Barry did, and no one noticed. Hmmm. Where's Jon Stewart when you need a chuckle ?
Why is everyone up in arms over Citicorp buying a $50 million dollar plane ? Everyone should we jumping up and down over spending $400 million dollars for naming rights to the Mets new stadium.... Save the $400mm, rename it CitiZens Field, and let them keep the jet as a consolation prize. My we we save the taxpayers $350mm.
SAY had his beautiful young son CAY at work yesterday. Boy has he grown. He's also quite happy for a kid who don't sleep.

This comes to us by way of AT. Who better to receive inspiration from than this woman, who contributed greatly to both people and process wherever she be. A truly amazing video. Are you going to finish strong ?
I'm a believer that our future energy needs lie in our making efficient use of available energy producing sources that are earth natural. Here's a gadget called the wavereaper. I believe that something even simpler, and potentially 'perpetual' is available quickly, cheaply and effective today. I believe what the Romans and Persians developed centuries ago would work quite well. It involved water and a wheel, and once it started, it went on indefinitely via self-propulsion.
Our man about town CH, came across this talented woman. She knows how to play one mean kazoo...
We had our Annual RNB Friends Holiday Lunch 2009 today. It was great to see everyone again. We once all worked very closely, and today we look forward to seeing one another at least once each year. Well so much for Rev. Lowery's prayer for yellow to be mellow....
Seems our Al Qaeda friends have been busy cooking up nasty surprises for us. On the plus side, at least 40 more are dead and swimming in the river of honey, with their ugly virgins.
And here's an example of the coming Obamanomics. Sure sounds fair to me, how about you ? Wake up WORKING people. We shouldn't be calling ourselves Republicans or Democrats. How about we now call ourselves Earners and non-Earners. I am sure us Earners can figure out a truly 'fair' way to help our fellow American non-Earners, without it raping the Earners. Where I come from, a 'long-term unemployed' person is a bum. Charlie Rangel is crazy.
A top economic adviser to President Obama has told a congressional panel the billions of dollars in the proposed economic stimulus plan should be allocated with social issues in mind, to make sure the money doesn't go to just "white male construction workers" or the highly skilled.
I came across these 2 foxy mamas hanging out at the Pond skating rink at Bryant Park.
This is hilarious. Comes from TR, and shows 1st day of school, 5 years from now.
Say good-bye to George Bush and thank him for his service to our country here.

We had a pretty snowfall today. Rosanne even made a snowman.
We went to the wedding of my boy Johnny 5 and DD. DD persevered and finally hooked the boy after about 14 years trying. Congratulations guys, DD looked beautiful and Johnny 5 looked debonair. Now make some babies.... Here are John & Danielle Cantone wedding @Flickr and my standard pics of John & Danielle Cantone wedding.

The Geography Of A Woman...
Between 18 and 22, a woman is like Africa, half discovered, half wild, fertile and naturally beautiful
Between 23 and 30, a woman is like Europe, well developed and open to trade, especially for someone with cash.
Between 31 and 35, a woman is like Spain, very hot, relaxed and convinced of her own beauty.
Between 36 and 40, a woman is like Greece, gently aging but still a warm and desirable place to visit.
Between 41 and 50, a woman is like Great Britain, with a glorious and all conquering past.
Between 51 and 60, a woman is like Israel, has been through war and doesn't make th e same mistakes twice, takes care of business.
Between 61 and 70, a woman is like Canada, self-preserving but open to meeting new people.
After 70, she becomes Tibet, wildly beautiful, with a mysterious past and the wisdom of the ages, only those with an adventurous spirit and a thirst for spiritual knowledge visit there.
The Geography Of A Man...
Between 1 and 90, a man is like Iran, ruled by nuts.
Check out this video and others from this guy on Youtube. Mars anomalies, water, plants, life !

It's 04:30am, and Joe is on his way to One Police Plaza to be sworn in as a NYPD Police Officer. Congratulations son, we are so proud of you on this day.
I recommend you watch President Bush's entire last press conference, but if you are pressed for time, just watch this excerpt. We should be very thankful for having this man lead us at the time of Sep. 11, 2001. God Bless you George W. Bush.

I find it curious that the Senate won't seat Roland Burris until his appointment has been 'certified', yet we still have the Supreme Court trying to decide if the same sort of expectation should be considered for Barack Obama's 'eligibility' to be President. Where has Barry been deemed officially 'qualified' to serve. Have all the necessary documents been received, reviewed, approved and accepted and CERTIFIED ??? Because, if not, WHAT IF HE AIN'T ELIGIBLE ? What if indeed...
Big changes at Shea Stadium, be sure and check the Shea Stadium construction page

I did some work on our fish tank the other day and caused major problems. The betas need to be separated, so I have this plexiglass partition. I had small holes to allow for water to filter better, but it wasn't good enough. So, I made the holes larger. Makes sense enough right ? Well these idiots poked their heads through the holes and 2 of them got into a nasty fight (they are Siamese Fighting fish). Sky beat the crap out of Red. Sky got banged up good too, so Ro took him out. I came home, added a screen to one of the partitions, and while I was working on it, Not Pinky attempted to go through one of the holes and got himself lodged in the opening. Well, he got all cut up, was stuck for a while as I tried to help him get through. He couldn't go backwards, or I would have scaled him. Here are pics of this nitwit stuck and all bloodied. It's been a few days, and he still hasn't eaten properly.... more to come, I'm sure

What a great ceremony today for the NYPD Cadet Corps graduation @Flickr. Joe looked so handsome, and made us very proud. Commissioner Ray Kelly gave a very poignant speech, and congratulated them as they prepare to enter the Police Academy next week. He recalled how he began his distinguished career as a Cadet Corp member and was very gracious as he stood for pictures with all the graduates. Rosanne even managed to tell him how much she likes his son Greg Kelly from FOX5. Commissioner Kelly and Mayor Bloomberg will be swearing Joe and the other recruits in next Wednesday, so that's Joe's official start date as a New York City Police Officer. WOW !!! Afterwards Joe showed us the office he was working in. It is called DCPI and was the Public Information office. All the folks there commended Joe on his work performance, and congratulated me and Ro on the fine young man we raised. They said they will miss Joe a lot, he did great work for them. They were very sincere. Congratulations Joe, we Love You very much, and are very proud of you. You are a remarkable young man, and we can't express enough our pride in you. Here are my standard pics of Joe's NYPD Cadet Corps graduation.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to review Barry's eligibility again this Friday. Take the new Musings Poll asking if we should expect Obama to be constitutionally eligible to be our next President
Our son Joe graduates the NYPD Cadet Corps tomorrow. Here's how he looked when he started last January. Next week he gets sworn into the NYPD Police Academy. We are so proud of you son. Good Luck and congratulations. We Love You !!! More pics tomorrow, of course...

With the year I had, I agree with this NY Post front page. Let's hope that 2009 is better.
My brudder stopped over New Years Eve waiting to pickup the Vinman from the airport. Dick Clark still helps us ring in the New Year, and he does pretty good, all things considered.
Welcome to 2009. Hope you enjoyed your celebration and welcomed 2009 nicely.
We received a Christmas Aloha from our friends in Hawaii, DM and FC. You guys look great. Hang loose !!!
We took Frank's bandages off last night. Things look well, but he still has pain and can't really put pressure on the leg yet. The surgery marks looks small enough to blend in once healed.
